I recently bought a auto transfer switch that uses these. For a guy that is only happy with things that are difficult or present a challenge I was disappointed by how easy they are to use.

Would these Lever Nuts be good for connecting electric brake wires behind the wheels?

In a word, no. They are not at all waterproof and would corrode quickly. They also do not make a ‘gas-tight’ connection.

Use marine adhesive lined heat-shrink covered crimp connectors crimped with a ratcheting crimp tool. These connections will be much more reliable and the heat shrink will keep water out when shrunk down properly.

Note: soldering is NOT appropriate. The solder makes the wires brittle and prone to breaking at the soldered joint under vibration. Proper crimps are good for aerospace and avionics wiring applications, solder is not. And I’m talking 20 plus years at Boeing to bear this out.

Thanks rmkrum. That is exactly the advice I needed. Plan to do new brakes sometime this year.

Does one have to wear a face mask to get near them?

Only if you are wearing a face mask, and maintain a safe 6' distance from the wiring as you make the connection!

Wago connectors

Love these Wago connectors. Just used them in a project. Easy to correct mistakes. It's like a mini-bus bar.

Light connections

They are the connector for the cabinet lights. If you ever have to replace the lights (we just did) they make electrical connections simple, and tool-less.
