Water Heater Light

I took delivery of a new 2016 Classic 10 days ago and everything seems to be working fine with the exception of a red water heater light that has come on three times. I have found that if I shut off the water heater and let it sit for a few hours I can restart and the light will not come on for 2-3 days. The light comes on whether I am using propane or electrical power. Any ideas??

I assume you are speaking of the red light on the propane on/off switch.

This light is more of a fault indicator than anything.

It should light momentarily when one switches on the propane system and then go dark. If the water heater lights and is burning, the lamp will stay off.

If the water heater fails to ignite or quits burning(perhaps runs out of propane) at some point before the water gets hot, it will light to indicate a fault.

It has nothing to do with the electric operation of the water heater.

Regards,

JD
