Unusual issue with ALDE

Hi Everyone,

I been having issues with my Alde system for a while, it doesn't work as it is supposed too......I turn it on and nothing happens, but on my last camping trip I noticed the system came on when I turned on the extra hot water for the shower...mmmm.....it ran fine for about thirty minutes or so until the extra hot water system shut down on its own....

Is it possible that the system is hooked to the wrong circuits on the Alde box under the dinning seat?.....has anyone else experienced this type of problem and does anyone have a possible solution...

Tim

Check to ensure the alde flow box is checked in the options menu.

Are you saying that you are not certain the hot water heater is working or the radiant heat? Or both?

Look at the voltage on your ALDE panel. I had a similar problem and the dealer has ordered a new control board for our ALDE. The house voltage was good but the ALDE voltage was ready low.

Unusual issue with ALDE

I have a 2021 Classic 33. That is exactly how mine works - I originally thought mine was broken too. I researched and found this in my owners manual:

Shower Boost Mode
Before taking a shower it is recommended the “boost” function be activated 10 minutes prior. This can be done by pressing the button for shower boost from the Alde control panels “menu” screen. Turning ON the boost function will temporarily suspend heat to the trailer and raise the water temperature. After 30 minutes the system automatically returns to normal operation. Boost mode can be canceled and the system returned to normal operation before the 30 minute run time by pressing the button.

I may not have stated the problem well enough....my current Alde system does not come on by itself at all....been a issue since last year, and I had it worked on several times by the dealer and when I take my next trip camping somewhere it won't work again. it has been a very frustrating problem to remedy so far...

The last trip I made a few days ago I turned on the extra hot water button to heat up extra hot water for showers, and all of a sudden the trailer heat came on instead of extra hot water for the shower....the system does regularly provide the normal hot water for the sinks, and bathroom faucets.

My question to the group is ..... is it possible the system is not wired correctly or is something misconnected.....I shouldn't be getting trailer heat when I turn on the extra hot water button, but in this case I am. I am happy the trailer heat comes on, but it only lasts for about thirty minutes or so until the system shuts down automatically.

Tim,
The simple answer is yes. However, there is a lot more information required to arrive at that conclusion. How comfortable are you with poking around in your Alde hardware? I had no boost hot water in my system for the first 18 months I owned her. She spent months (yes you read that correctly) in several different Airstream dealers who tried to diagnose the problem. I finally decided I needed to find the problem myself or I would never take a shower in my trailer. I dove in. I found the problem fairly easily and with some help from the forum fixed it. No costs except my time. We (because others will help and there is a lot of knowledge on this forum) can walk you through a proper diagnosis and perhaps find a solution without a trip to the dealer.

First question: Are you full timing?
