Rumor of a new 28' Classic?

Anyone else hear rumors about Airstream announcing a 28' Classic?

Cheers,

Bryan

It was on Airstream's Instagram account today. It looked like a similar layout to the 30' Classic, but obviously shorter.

It's already up on the Airstream site. Same basic layout as all the other 28's (FC, INT, & PB) but with Classic level finishings.

Chad’s RV had a video walkthrough but it seems to be gone now. The new 28’ Classic has two awesome pantries that pull out. Nice design.

Yes, I saw the pictures from the RV show. It got me excited. The downside is a lack of counter space, similar to my 26U. But the 28' Classic has a flip up extension, which IMO, needs to be twice as long and twice as wide.
The new 28 has 16" Sendel rims and Michelin tires.
Still has the Alde heat, but the C-zone is retired.
The sofa seems to be that same unit from the 30', not a foam pad like the Globetrotter, etc.
The curtains are a tweedy pattern, not the usual white. Nice!
Lacks hanging locker space, but the slide out pantry is fantastic. Undercounter drawers are weird. They worked to get a trash can under the counter, IMO they'd be better served by a Simple Human can under the flip up, and use the space for drawers. (I use the 45L. narrow side step that sits in the open, works great, looks great.)
If you get the twin beds you have real drawers under, not trap doors.
The deal breaker, for me, might be the white farm house cabinets. I know it's fashionable, but let me have the classy raised panel real wood doors.
I don't know if there's any specs yet, weight, tanks, etc.

Yes, the Airstream website has all the full specs for the new 28' Classic.

Also, you can order Light Brown solid wood cabinets if you prefer them over the White ones.

Cheers,

Bryan

Is this the end of the Pottery Barn? Seems like a lot of overlap and about the same price.

JeffKim, Airstream announced they are (finally!) retiring the Pottery Barn. Wise move, I think. While it’s a beautiful trailer, if you have kids or dogs the cream fabric furniture is a nightmare. After less than a year of ownership, we sold ours for just that reason.

Saw it at the Floirda Supershow

Looks like a mini 30. Reverse layout for kitchen and table. Most of the reduction in space is between the kitchen and the sofa area and only 1/2 of the closet remains. Everything is the same. I believe it is functional, but the closet reduction is significantly less.

Details I like.
The galley is on the street side. That means the control board for the awning is not under the sink. Also it means the flip up extension is not intruding on the door, so it can be larger. It also means one can sit at the dinette and see the activity on your campsite, not your neighbors.
Yes, the hanging locker is tiny but if you order the twins there are very large pull out drawers under them. I'd use a Elfa system with baskets in the locker.
Details I'm "Meh" on.
I do think the under sink storage is weird, trying too hard to stuff a trash can where drawers would be better.
I use the Simple Human side step narrow 45 l. can and it just sits by the oven.

I also like the seating on the opposite side. The facing other people design is something we immediately ruled out before settling on the rear seating in the 25' (not that we ever were considering a Classic).

Thanks for the trash can recommendation! I dislike intensely our cabinet waste basket by the door. Hard to get to, hard to remove, and if it overflows or I miss, stuff goes under the cabinet somewhere. I'll have to ponder the $100 cost for a trash can, but matches the Airstream.

P.S. Do I need the custom fit liners?

I really like the pull out slide compartments. Closet space not a big deal. We only keep coats in there anyway, and some misc. I am concerned the hanging cabinets at end of the twin beds may be gone though? Plus would be the couch/lounge if its the same as in the 30Classic? Our biggest complaint on the 28' has been the cushions on that couch, so we replaced the foam right after we got ours back in 2017. I remember calling AS custom shop in Portland, and they said the couch was $10K; that didn't include installation, which in my rig would mean moving the water heater under the L-Couch.

Also noticed...price! That Classic is $100K more than I paid for my 2017 FC Twin out the door when I purchased in 2017! (Shouldn't have showed it to the wife....she likes the bathroom window and couch, now!)

Yeah, I balked at the $100 also since I can buy something for $40 but it's not the same. The Simple Human just works. I'm glad I got it. I actually added a "Trailer Trash" decal on the front. (yuk-yuk).
You can use 13 gal. trash bags, but the "N" size Simple Human are a perfect fit, and seem bulletproof, much thicker than any trash bag I've seen. The can came with a half dozen or so bags, and I just bought a box on Amazon.
Since it's just me a bag lasts a week?

Chad's RV review did a complete video of it at the Tampa RV show. He had to take it down once he put it up until after the show so it is back up now and it is absolutely beautiful. You should check it out at Chad's RV review.

Thanks! I took a gander. It is really nice, the first trailer I've seen that I'd consider eventually as an upgrade to our 25' GT. The 27' GT is just a bigger version of ours. The 28' Classic is a good size for the camping we do and big jump in features. I think it crosses the arbitrary line where maybe it's not camping anymore. But then the cramped kitchen area helps with that feeling.

I like the floor plan. I'm not crazy about the small windows that you cannot open. I would like to see a more traditional stove/oven combo. The counter top was similar in size to a previous trailer we owned - 1989 29' AS. They need to rethink the cushion storage for the dinette area. Takes up too much space that could be used for other storage. My daughter sleeps on the dinette in our trailer and the existing cushions are moved into place. No extra storage for cushions needed. Would like to see the return of the hickory or oak faced cabinetry.

After looking at Chads Review of the 28' Classic, it's clear they added some nice features, but the cushion storage for the dinette bed vs using the dinette back cushions does not make sense, and the lack counter space is a non-starter for us. Love the couch, but loosing storage below and also the 2 extra storage bins above the dinette with our 28'FC model vs those useless oblong windows (when awning is out) is not desirable for us. Bedroom lockers still there which is nice along with the drawers beneath. Wife wishes they would have notched the shower seat for more leg area, but understand with that location its an issue. Bottom line, think the 30' Classic is still the way to go....but wife reminds me..."everything works in ours"!

I watched several YouTube videos on the 28’ Classic from folks attending the 2025 Tampa RV show a couple weeks ago. One of the regular YouTubers posted a video that really caught my attention and that was the new door lock remote? I believe the guy highlighted this feature and then commented that it was going to be an install on all new Classics. I can’t seem to find that video anywhere, but was wondering did anyone else see it? Thanks
