Roof skylight domes

Hey all, new to the forum and we just traded our tiffin motorhome for our first airstream, a 2021 classic 30RB

We took delivery 2 weeks ago, and did our first roof inspection today and notice something odd and wanted to see what other classic owners have similar dome on rear

On the front skylight dome its tinted and all the way to the roof see pic of tinted dome, that’s all well

But on the rear skylight dome it’s clear and only goes down about 1/2 way to touch roof, see pic ( we have a piece of silver bubble wrap up inside to help Sheild the light and heat)

Is this what other classics owners have , I clear dome that only comes down about 1/2 way towards roof?

Thanks

The bottom edge doesnt need to touch the roof. It doesnt seal there. The sealing is done where the dome sits on the curb.

Hey NC, I suggest you start planning to replace those with Maxim Skylights. We did and couldn't be happier. I'd a thunk that Airstream would be offering them as an option on new units by now but not yet. Check this thread about the faults with the OEM skylights and wonders of the Maxim! https://www.airforums.com/forums/f45...hts-53517.html Best, Brad

No doubt Maxim makes a nice skylight...With that said, my original skylight last 25 years. I replaced it with the same. I just didnt install it with screws going down vertically through the curb like the factory did. I made spacers to go between the skylight and curb and attached it with horizontal screws. The OEM is not a bad product. It is a residential skylight. It is made by Sun-Tek. Home Depot can order the square skylight for about 70 bucks.
