Quick question Living Area Fantastic Fan shade?

We have a new 2020 33’ Classic RBT. The bedroom fan has a nice shade with it. The Galley/Living area fan does not. Obviously being able to block out all light in sleep in situations (of which there are many [emoji3]) is important. Did I get shorted or just bad design point??? Thanks!

I’ve got a 30 classic. Sounds like our design got shorted one fantastic fan and two shades 🤪

We only have one fantastic fan in the living area with no shade. I have seen people add a shade.

Sorry, just commenting, not sure if the 33 calls for two shades or not.

We have a 2019 30ft Classic. It has the lowest cost whinny three speed none reversible fan they could find with no cover.It is not long for this world.

We have two fantastic fans and neither had a shade. Installed one of these at each location.

Matches the shade at the skylight with same performance. Not a complete blackout. But does make a big difference.

We bought two shades (similar to the one above) but they also have lights. We love them. We replaced the fantastic fans with Maxx Air fans and love them, too!!

Just got a Camco ceiling vent shade. It has silvery sun reflective material on one side and the rest is a kind of white lambs wool material. Sure It is synthetic. The shade is filled with a foam square. It is 14x14 inches and squeezes in the space easily. Because it is squishy, it goes over the handle and other protruding items no problem. It stays in well so far when we travel, no light gets through, and it keeps out heat/ cold very well. $15 or so at many locations. Here is a link to Walmart:

I made a cheap one that snug fits in. To further secure it, I just pull the shade to keep it from wiggling out while driving

Easy build, 1/8 plywood, solid pink foam and spray on contact cement, lay alum foil on top.
In hit sunny places it does agreat job to keep the temp diwn

We use a Camco ceiling vent shade. It is soft enough to fit over the handle, created a permanent dent. Doesn't fall out when towing. Easy, inexpensive quick fix.

We cut a pice of styrofoam less than 3/8" smaller than the opening, used a spray adhesive to put a nice matching material on the foam, put an inexpesive matching draw handle in the center with wide washers on the back, and used Frost King self adhesive 1/4" window foam sealer around the perimeter. Pop it in.

I had the same issue in my 33, cock-a-doodle doo when the sun came up before I was ready.
Solution; a piece of acoustic black foam cut to just over the inside dimensions
of the sky lite opening. I think it was 13 1/2" x 13 1/2" but you should measure your sky lite opening to be certain. If you cut it about 1/2" over inside dimensions the foam will compress with enough push back to keep it in place. A 48"x24"x1" piece of bulk foam costs $20 from amazon (link below).
If you choose this solution, lay out the cut lines with masking tape and cut along the edge of the tape with a sharp butcher knife dragging the knife several times along the cut path until you are all of the way through. Be sure to double check your measurements and cut along the correct side of the tape. If done correctly it squeezes in and stays put without any messy adhesives or unsightly fasteners. Put it in or take it out hassle free. If black is not the color you want you can always paint it I suppose, maybe silver.
With the leftover foam I cut a 12"x7" piece and use it when I sleep to keep my boney knees apart.

Holy cow, all these people who sleep after the sun comes up! Sunrise, especially while camping, is one of the great joys of life!( Sunrise was better sailing, though)

100% agree, it works so well to block all the light and help keep out the hot or the cold. Easy in and out, and not expensive. Don't have the one with foil but probably works just as well. Joe
