Thank you everyone who replied to my question. I did not ask a written quote from Airstream, but they did indicate that it would take about 4 days labor plus material to remove the sofa and add “close outs” to shield the hydronic fins.

So along with new recliners and a center console to cover the large dc distribution box (plus accommodate moving the batteries inside) I think we would be up in the $8K range as others have suggested. Too much for us at this time!

Thanks for posting the photo of the sofa framing exposed even if it came from someone else. It is helpful.

Having not committed (yet) to replacing the sofa with a pair of recliners, I do sight the void space forward of the 12v gray junction box as a possible location to install a wifi-printer by slightly modifying the cabinet type latching front center bottom (upholstered) panel of the sofa to gain easy access (i.e. install a piano hinge on the bottom) and install a slide out tray to accomodate a printer while drawing from the 120v AC outlet in the forward bulkhead (also as shown) by using a Y-type cord splitter.

Still investigating the idea.

Completed what was a easy DIY project yesterday in the form of installing a sliding shelve in the void space beneath the reclining sofa. Will be installing a wifi printer/scanner/copier later today and have posted more detailed photos of the installation in the Computers, Internet & Satellite, sub-section on Electronics in the Technical forum topics.

Very creative. We have our sub there on a shelf that was factory installed. Not much storage available in our void.

Another member and '18 Classic M30 owner commented the same, his is mounted on a wooden shelve that is bolted to the floor in the center void space. No rationale in my mind why AS would mount some there and others beneath the right side of the recliner sofa. Being there (right side) it works fine and make use or equally void space (no clearance issue with sofa or recliner power strut, etc. and is equally bolted to the floor same as the wood frame in the center). Thus in my mind, the sub (alone) could be moved and mounted directly to the floor (no wood shelf).

Might be worth a call into Airstream Support to ask why some are different. The power cord leads on the sub are plenty long enough to reach the 12v junction box from anywhere under the sofa. (I denoted mine to be zip tied up in a bundle).

How did you get the cushions off the couch?

If it helps,

Here are my measurements of the void space/opening in the seat cushion center section of my '18 Classic's M30 Recliner Sofa where I installed the sliding shelve and wifi printer earlier posted in these threads.

Hey, did you get any instructions on how to remove the seats? I got the center section out, but it's not super clear to me how to proceed to the rest of the seating.

Thanks!
