New to Airstream Questions

Just finished our shakedown trip in 2016 Classic. Old RV'ers but new to
Airstream. Had mostly classA motorhomes past 18 years.

Had several issues that I worked out. I still have two lights not working.

The light on the Water Heater switch and the Light in the Fridge. I wondered

If some fuse might operate these. I have no red lights on in fuse box.

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome. Sorry I can't help as I am also new to Airstream but wanted to keep this alive until one of the other, or several others, more experienced owners are able to answer. Hopefully it is something very simple. Good luck and safe travels.

JYD, as for the water heater lights, you may need to check your unit's manual. On most of the dual power water heaters the lights only illuminate if a fault occurs.

Did you check to see if there is a second power switch outside under the hot water heater cover. Ours has a second one there.

The water heater light only flashes for a brief second when turning it on. Then stays off. It stays on/comes on only if there is a problem with the heater firing up, such as lack of propane if on propane mode. I'm assuming you had hot water?

Can't help with the fridge light question.

New to Airstream Questions

Reference the Fridge light, I've found the bullet connectors on these fixtures that Dometic uses are pretty finicky.

On mine, I had to physically bend the copper tab slightly to get the contact working so the light would turn on.

Obviously it would be worth confirming the bulb was functional.

pckskier is absolutely spot on, in the 2016 you should have two hot water heater switches, one is for propane one is for electric. When pushed to on, there is a brief flash of a small red light and that is it. If both are pushed the hot water is available much quicker. When full hook up we used to only use the electric and not our propane.

I want to follow this but also have question. Now when turning on HW heater on gas...I am not getting the brief red light and it is not trying to light. Nothing happens on gas. The 120 works fine. Thanks for pondering this with the other question.

No quick light with the propane switch, but you should, if you listen carefully and it's quite all around you, hear the flame come on. You can also hear it if you go outside and open the compartment where the Hot Water heater is in.

I also only switch the electric on when connected to shore power. I read that before switching on you need to turn the tap on to equalize the pressure.

If the light doesn't flash and the WH does not work on propane, check the 2 amp fuse on the water heater itself. You access it by lifting the outer cover. Look carefully, mine was hard to find.

Hi

The only other thing I can see that might be an issue: You can get air in the gas line. In some cases it takes quite a while to bleed out the air. Running the stove is one quick(er) way to do it.

Thank to all. Since I don't hear the snap of lighter maybe the fuse...but had not found one. Now I know where to look. Then the air but leaning toward fuse. Will advise. I owe ya.
