I don't understand how you could "feel sorry" for someone who has different design tastes than you do. Are you the exclusive arbiter of good design? Only your opinion matters? I happen to like white/grey leather and clean design, and and I think AS did an excellent job with the new interior. I definitely don't want or need your sympathy. I would never own a dark interior AS, but I hope I would have more class than to knock those who do want one.

Airstream just confirmed that Tampa RV show is going to have a classic 30 in white. You going?

New Classic Airstream interior!

Ephraim,
Take a hint on "class or taste" You can always express your likes and dislikes without being rude.
From your comment, I would have to say maybe you're the one with no sense or...… Just sayin'!

While it is nicer, Airstream needs to ditch the bare aluminum from the interior. In my opinion it is cold and unwelcoming. I would never buy an Airstream with that type of interior. Where has the interior of my 2000 Safari gone?

Thanks for posting, Turk. Lively discussion.

This looks like a move in the right direction, but still off the mark. The panel doors look dated. How about a quality redesign instead of an alternate color? It might be right for the demographic—retired boomers who aren’t attracted to the darker interiors. I grant you: should Airstream go with cleaner lines in the Classic, I guess it’s no longer a Classic. The Classic line has never been aimed at a customer like me. It works in opposition to the clean, space-age lines evoked by the classic Airstream exterior. The globetrotter has captured the look that makes the most sense for the Airstream brand, I think. And the Christopher Deem models.

I strenuously object to the window... casings, would you call them? strange. The attractive lozenge curves of the AS windows are masked. It seems likely debris would collect in them. They hide signs of moisture intrusion. Are they for insulation? In older ASs, these softgoods gambits do not age well. Gravity, soil and UV take their toll. Seems a bad idea—without understanding the purpose and materials IRL.

Funny how different people have different tastes. We once owned an Airstream with the padded ceiling and fuzzy walls and will never consider one of those again.

We do agree that some Airstream models with too much bare aluminum inside are unappealing, but we think the wood and white window shade boxes on the Classic strike the right balance with the bare aluminum ceiling and walls.

The window casings in the classic are necessary for the black out pull down sun and night shades. You can get the entire trailer dark because of them. Perfect for my wife who works overnight as a nurse.

We like the window casings. The new material is like suede but is washable and seems very durable. They provide a lot of insulation and the black-out option. They are also nice when sitting sleeping (twin) as your body never touches cold metal.

One more positive feature that is overlooked is they offer sound deadening for inside sounds and from outside sounds. Our Classic is very quiet inside compared to the international signature we had.

That makes a lot of sense. I appreciate its usefulness more in the sleeping area than throughout the coach.

When you say washable—machine washable?

Walked through the new white classic at the RV show this morning. I like it even better in person. It really takes some of the “weight” out of the interior design. Judging from how packed it was I think it’ll be a hit.

I won’t be getting one though, as I dropped a deposit on a IS30RBQ after walking through everything they brought out (including some multi-million $$ monster buses).

We did also walk the new GT30RBQ, but the lack of rear bedside closets was a deal breaker for us. We just need the storage.

Man, walked through the 30 with the new interior today. There was easily 10 people crammed into that thing. A lot of people touch and feeling it out. Easily the busiest trailer they seemed to have when we were there at least. Gonna go back for more tomorrow!
