Thx so much for the factory data dump.

You can check your electric elements by looking at the EMS readout with 1 energized, then 2 energized.

No EMS? oh buddy, are you a trusting soul [emoji12] .

Go borrow one from a neighbor till you buy your own to check current draw.

So, the 3020 unit, with Alde Flow, has a separate glycol pump to circulate hot glycol to some separate domestic water heat exchanger/ tanks that is somehow connected with the Flow component? Where did they put all this stuff?

Thx.

I was wondering why my dinette seat on that side was a foot higher!

Century vs Alde transfer fluid

I have bought Alde transfer fluid in a 1 liter bottle from my Airstream dealer. I placed another order a few weeks back and instead of 1 liter of Alde branded fluid, the A/S dealer sent me a gallon of the following:
Century Transfer fluid labeled solar and hydronic system antifreeze.
Inquiring why they sent that instead of the "Alde" branded fluid, the parts guy said it was the same thing.
Not trusting that, I called Alde and talked with Spencer. I sure did not want to mix non compatible fluid. I sent a picture of the label and Spenser said that the Century fluid is OK. In fact, he said Century made the Alde fluid for them. The only difference is the Century is green and Alde is blue. Here is the link for what I am talking about.

Does anyone know the quantity of Alde fluid it takes to replace the fluid in the system? Many of us are coming up on the 2 year recommended fluid change out. Has anyone done this yourself?

When I asked JC, a couple months ago, was told about 5 gallons. I didn't get to it before winter storage, but plan to in the late spring.
He said it seemed like a lot for the loop, but the registers are multi-pass, not just straight through. But, there are two model years past the '17s we have, so who really knows.

Any of you over-acheivers out there could really help the rest of us '17 DIY-ers get 'er done with some shade tree stories.

What I've used for make up and plan to use for replacement. It matched the MSDS from Alde for the blue stuff. Pricing is going to drive the concentrate or one gallon premixed.

On my 2018 30' with a 3010 boiler they put the Alde Flow between the boiler and the outside wall. Snug but it works. No difference in dinette seat heights.

Hi

In this case, if you are going with a concentrate, mix it with distilled water. Trusting the local tap water to be devoid of something nutty is not a good idea. The local grocery store should be well stocked with gallon jugs ....

Absolutely, and everything including hands needs be clean, clean, clean when refilling.

Hi

One unanswered question - do you do a flush before you do a refill? If you flush, what do you do it with and how much of it?

Yes, I know people who get obsessive about oil changes and can't understand why the rest of the world does not do a rinse step.

Had my system flushed by my local AS dealer and Alde, DI water was used. Not sure if a flush is recommended or required prior to replacing glycol, Spencer at Alde could answer this question.

I’m so confused by so much information. We’ve had our 2018 30’ Classic for about a year and a half. We’re currently in FL during a real cold streak. When the heat is on we’ve always heard some “gurgling”. Now when the heat comes on it sounds like it’s raining in various areas. Wakes me up at night. Is this normal?

(Ms. Lauri, coffee alert)

Well, it could be normal if you are a light sleeper

The gurgling you might hear when the circ pump runs for heat is the expansion tank in the cabinet above the toilet (circa 17). If you top it off, less gurgling, but still normal. Sort of a cold weather ambiance to let you know all is well with heat.

The raining sound is new; could be an air bubble in the register near your bunk. AS told me they were multiple pass registers, hence the 5 gallon volume for a 70' loop. So, this will mean 3 passes thru each register, 2 internal elbows, and perhaps you hear the ambiance of the Alde waterfall.

Or it was just raining outside.

The real question was were you comfortable (temp wise)?

James, Your camco link did not work when I tried it??
Yup, looks like they dropped it. I've bought it at RV shops at about $15 a quart concentrate. It was CAMCO 35116 Boiler Antifreeze Concentrate.

smkovalchik, ditto what James said. Try topping off the tank first then maybe bleed the valves nearest to your pillow. (Although I haven’t ever heard the gurgling in the bedroom I can hear the tank when I’m sitting at the dinette.) If you’re still hearing the sound after toppling of the tank you may need to bleed all the valves but I’m guessing that just filling the tank will do the trick.

If it's really quiet out and you are in the bunk on the side by the bathroom, you can indeed hear the gurgle in the bathroom tank from bed. Indeed, we keep the bathroom door open at night due to multi dog traffic issues in the hall. That may have some bearing on the noise level.

I think I need to clarify our issue. The gurgling isn’t just in the bedroom and certainly not under my pillow, it’s coming from most of the heating areas, living area and bathroom. The solution is to have it serviced when we return from a Florida.
Thanks for everyone’s help.

Gr8, please post the "rest of the story" about the rainfall noise. Thx.
