I wonder how the firefly system will hold up and how long before it becomes obsolete? The awning motor dining table motor bed and recliner motors how will they hold up Are you going to be able to get after market motors or go back to AS for OEM parts (how long will they keep them in stock). How do you close the awning if the motor stops working? I am not complaining or criticizing as I am leaning toward the classic

Thoughts for us, but not a deciding issue. The awning has some tools which come with the trailer to by-pass the circuit board and close it up if it stays open. The Firefly system has been used in some high end motorhomes for years. Airstream still has parts available for them dating back much longer than we will own our unit.

We will try to always go back to the factory, or use a good dealer if we can find one locally.

Any and all systems will eventually go bad in any and all RVs, it's the nature of the beast when one takes a "house" down the road.

The Alde system is far and away the very best heating system we have had in any RV and that encompasses over 40 years of camping and rving.

Bud,

A bit of a quibble with your term "best". I have followed the conversation about the Alde and it appears that setting it up, and maybe maintaining it, is a whole lot more involved that turning on a forced-air gas furnace.
I found the same to be true in houses I have owned. I had a radiant heat hot water system that was a joy for comfort but required a lot more attention that the trustworthy forced-air gas furnace.

Larry:

Best is referring to comfort, you are correct it does take some adjustments and checking, but I have and have had a number of forced hot air systems in homes and in RVs and simply do not like them. Our Alde system has been on for over a week while the trailer is in storage preparing to winter in FL. Not going now, so going over today to unload and shut it down. But, once adjusted, have not touched it, makes no noise, and keeps the trailer to within 1F of whatever I have it set at.
