I know not to jack up the trailer using the axle
but am not sure what happens if you do??

What is the proper way to deploy the electric awning? I was told, during the trailer orientation, that before opening, the “close awning” button should be pressed. This procedure prevents awning from having major problems...... But why?

The axles are designed to support a mostly balanced and uniform load with the designed lever moments between the wheel and the frame distributed evenly across the axle. They are not strong enough to support point loads from a jack. So jack up the trailer with the jack on a strong reinforced portion of the frame. like where frame components come together.

Pushing the close button first resets the motor positioners so the awning programing opens the awning correctly. Otherwise it can get out of sequence and say hit the door if it's open or try to open too far. This is not mandatory, but it is a good practice that will avoid future disappointments.

I've ALWAYS used the axle mount plate.
Never the 'JACK' point, (that may or may not have a frame on top of it.) On our AS it was about 3" off, not far enough to miss completely, but pretty dam close.🥴

Also used for the jack stands for Winter storage.

^me too. I started jacking at the marked spot one time. Didn't like what I was beginning to hear.

^ Oh for sure the axle mount points are reinforced with the vertical plate steel that distributes sheer stress over a long distance. Right on the center of the vertical plate as Bob shows, Very strong there!
