Interior light issue

2017 Classic: One of my rear interior lights will not remain mounted to the ceiling. I blame rough I-40. Whoa that road has issues - but that is beside the point. Anyone have a clever way to keep the light from un-mounting from the ceiling? If there is a thread discussing this, please point the way. I searched and just could not find one.

Hey, so a very late and admittedly sad suggestion...double sided tape?

How was it mounted by the factory?
Double sided "foam"tape will work but depending on how hot the fixture gets it also might fail or make a mess if you ever have to remove the fixture.
Another approach would be rare earth magnets epoxied to the ceiling and fixture, if they are not ferrous. that retains the ability to remove the fixture if needed.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I'm sorry I wasn't more specific: it is one of the circular LED lights that mount on the ceiling using three screws. The doubled sided foam tape sounds like a good option. The magnets would have to be pretty strong and thin so that the light mounts flush to the ceiling but good idea!!

Just FYI...what I ended up doing was squeezing some silicone glue into each of the screw holes and pressed the light back into place. I did this after setting up for the night and let the silicone set for 12 hours before getting back on the road. So far my trip to JC and back (about 1700 miles) the light has stayed in place.

I asked the service tech at JC about using the silicone glue and he said that is what they do to repair loosened lights.

My other thought is this...if the light loosens back up again the silicone should be easy to peel off and replace.

Great idea and cheap and removable if necessary. Throwing a tube in my toolbox. Thinking it could be used for a bunch of things.

Funny you should say that!! I have an "Elsa" bag with rivet gun, silicone glue, assorted 3M stickie appliques, electrician tape, Velcro, painters blue tape, and anything else that I read on this forum.
