I had that problem and the Moen cartridge in the faucet had failed; Airstream used the cheap plastic cartridge instead of the "forever" bronze version. Not hard to replace...if that is the problem.

Sounds like shower control / mixing portion of valve is inop. TU.

Fixed shower temp, for now

Thanks all. We were able to dismantle the shower faucet and adjust the screw controlling the hot water flow. The parts are quite flimsy so will be calling Kohler to see if an upgrade is available.

Hi

The shower faucet is a very normal residential item. You can find them at your local big box store.

Our cartridge failed about 4 months ago. Easy to replace cartridge but had to cut larger hole in shower wall to get steel cap out that covers cartridge. About a quarter inch difference. That was a real pain. JC says they take the whole wall from the bedroom side apart to replace cartridge that seemed even worse. Bought deep hole saw from Amazon and then made a jig out of half-inch plywood to drill through shower stall.

Sounds like you fixed the problem, but I'm posting in case anyone else has similar problem but not the same cause. I had hot water everywhere in my brand new 2019 Classic EXCEPT in the shower. I was able to temporarily fix the problem by cranking up the mixing valve (under the dinette seat) per the suggestion I found on this Forum. That was a temporary fix in that the main culprits turned out to be both a missing check-mark in the check-box on my Alde system plus a bad shower valve cartridge. After I checked the check-box on the Alde system and Jackson Center replaced the cartridge, the water was so hot that the system was overheating, therefore, I had to turn the mixing valve under the dinette back down. All is good now.

Step one: Plug the drain so your screws don't make a run for it!
(That's actually a great video!)

Just throwing this out. I saw this tip for enlarging a hole saw opening.
The arbor on a hole saw has enough threads to allow a second saw.
So, put one hole saw on the size of the existing hole, and behind it, the larger one. The first centers the saw (no drill bit needed) and the second cuts.

cniccum. Hopefully that adjustment fixes your problem. It didnít for yours. Ours kept coming and going. Ended up being the cartridge and when I spoke with Kohler they had replaced our model cartridge with a new (improved model) because of that she sent it out for free. Just in case you end up in the same situation here is a picture of ours before I enlarged the hole to get cap out from over cartridge. Again I hope this is not your case. But if it is that steel cap has to come out before cartridge can or bedroom wall has to. Poor design in my opinion!!!

Molleysdad. That’s a great solution but wouldn’t work in my case because the smaller hole saw would hit the steel cap before larger one reached shower wall. But I will remember that for the future. Thanks
