Help with de winterizing 2017 classic 30

Hello all I’m a tad bit confused on what is the normal position of the knobs in the picture during summer operation. This is how the trailer came when I bought it winterized. I only have one yellow relief valve as I’ve see multiples in other threads. My unit is the 3010 alde system. Thanks for any help.

There may be a diagram in your owners manual, showing you how these are to be set for winterizing bypass, and then normal use.

I keep mine marked with a little tab.

Someone with the same rig may give you better information, but if not I would call the service department where you bought it.

Here is your owners manual. My 2021 manual has a good drawing in it about it. I skimmed through quickly but didn’t see one in yours. I can look for mine or check out 2018s - probably the same.

A helpful exercise might be to consult as many manuals as possible, then sit at the mechanical space in the photo, and figure it all out . . .

Which pipes do what? [red hot/blue cold?] In what direction is the liquid flowing in each pipe?

Disco here dat go dare?

Where is the water pump? Then continue the exercise . . . where is the water filter between the water tank and the pump?

Could you winterize your new-to-you trailer on your own? If you can figure this out, just reverse the process to "summerize."

Generally . . . for a valve to be "open" and permit water to flow,
the valve's handle will be in line with the pipe, not perpendicular to it.

In order to really work out what's what, you need the view in the picture and the view from under the table. Without both, there is no practical way to trace them out.

From memory:

1) This is the hot water into the mix valve. That valve is now turned shut, it needs to be open.

2) This is the bypass valve around the hot water system. It is now open, it needs to be shut.

3) This is the cold water supply to the system. It is now shut. It needs to be open.

Simply put: All these valves are in the "winterize" position right now. They *all* need to change state for normal operation.

4) Is a pressure relief. It does not get played with unless you want to dump the system. I normally leave it "open" for winter storage. It is shut in the picture. If you leave it open, and have water hooked up, you get a big puddle under the trailer .... I have data on this

number one is open
number two is closed
number three is open
number four is closed

Isn't 4) also a hot water low-point drain for this area? If so . . . good to know for winterizing the trailer IMO.

And what is the yellow handle partially hidden by 4)? In Post #7 that yellow handle is more visible. A cold water shut-off, or pressure-relief valve?

There is a second yellow valve to the left of your picture. You have to remove the left false front to the dinette seat.

If you happen to pull up to a campsite that has 100 pound water pressure *and* you have the original stock regulator on the trailer (that's set to 60 pounds) ....
You will find that the gizmo with the yellow handle is a pressure relief that goes off at 55 pounds. You get a big puddle of water under the trailer.

Indeed it can also be used as a low point drain. That's why I leave it open as part of the winterize process. It's primary function is to protect the 3010 from over pressure.

Thanks Bob, but isn't the black-handled valve -- labeled 4) in the OP -- a separate LP drain for that red hot water line?

The yellow handle is on a different valve per the photo in Post #7, but is mostly hidden [by the black handle] in the OP's photo IMO.

Keep in mind that I'm going from memory here ....

My recollection is that the yellow is the overpressure, could be wrong.

Looks like that in the referenced photos IMO.



Just trying to make clear for the OP that the 4) black handle on the red hot pipe is probably a true low point drain, which needs to be open when winterizing with compressed air.

Helpful info for future readers too.
