Hello Everyone!!

My wife and I are new to the forum with this being our first post, although I have benefitted from many forum threads as we researched the purchase of our 2016 Classic due to arrive in Mesa, AZ on May10. This week we closed on the sale of our home of 20 years, sold my wife's car as well as two of my motorcycles. We have sold or donated most of our household goods over the past several months. We still have a bit more to go as we continue to sift through belongings jettisoning more non-essential stuff. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

We will join the ranks of full-timers in May and will be searching these forums for answers to the multitude of questions which will surely arise.

Thanks again to all those who have unknowingly helped us on this new undertaking and we look forward to seeing you on the road.

Hi. Boy you folks are starting a great adventure. You probably read on these forums "new adventures keeps us young". I certainly believe that, and Airstream travel is full of new adventures.

The Classic is such a beautiful Airstream. None finer. Our 86 Limited was top of the line back in 1986, but it pales compared to the new Classic. And your trailer is significantly better built than ours. We have had many adventures in our 30 year old Airstream and hope to head out again soon. We find our Limited very comfortable and easy to live with.

Take you time learning how to handle your Airstream. Pulling a 8000 pound trailer changes the driving dynamics significantly. Acceleration, braking, turns, lane changes, cross winds, mountain roads and backing up are all different. It takes time to develop an appreciation of conventional towing heavy trailers.

The last thing I'll mention is to develop the "no interstate rule". Find the state highways and take you time going from here to there. Interstates are for freight trucks, state highways are for relaxed leisurely travel.

Welcome to the Airstream community.

David

Thanks folks for your warm welcome. I remember being amazed by an Airstream gathering in Norman, OK in 1970 and I think it was just a matter of time until we join the ranks.

Welcome holmesaz! You will find a wealth of information in Airforums. People are very generous with their knowledge and time. We couldn't ask for a more helpful group. Our SOB relatives are envious of the knowledge base here. Happy travels!
