Day/night shade failure
One of our day/night pleated shades over the dinette has become completely detached from the windowframe. We can't seem to get the bottom bar of the shade reattached to the metal clips. We noticed that some of our blinds have a screw on either one or both ends of the bar that holds the shade to the windowframe. Looks like a work around to prevent the blinds from coming loose from the clips. Has anyone else encountered this? We've had an issue with that blind since we purchased the trailer and now it's completely inoperable. Our local dealer told us they have to replace the metal clips and they are on backorder (?!). I've got a call into Jackson Center and sent an email but no replies yet. It's little things like this that drive me crazy!

We had the same problem on both our big shades in the front and back. Bought some clear plastic mirror clips at Lowes and screwed them into the bottom frame to hold down the bar. Took 4 clips for each window.

I contacted OceanAir directly in VT and the person I spoke to responded with directions and product.

I fear the inevitable when my shades start to break.
I've been looking into electric/automatic shade ideas. Would probably just go with "night shades" as I hardly ever use the "day shades".

I left a message last week and sent an email through the online Airstream customer support site. I have not heard back from anyone yet.

Keep trying. There are only 2, maybe 3 people in tech support, John, Gretchen and one other person I think. They get at least 100 calls each day from owners and dealers. I have found the calls work better but it just could have been luck. Keep calling and hit option 2. Or call Ocanair in VT. The shades can fail for any number of reasons. Mine haven’t fail yet but I hear it’s not too awful to fix them yourself.

Zybane, if you find anyone that can do the motorized shades that look good and will work in the AS please share. I want to replace my shades just because I don’t like the whole window treatment thing. There has to be a better way then the ugly faux suede looking stuff on big ugly boxes. I am going to contact a company that did a great job on motorized, automatic, smart, shades for my house and see what they can come up with for my AS. It’s those curved windows that are going to be a challenge.

I actually like the suede window boxes, helps dampen the sound and keep light out when the shades are closed.
Getting automated shades would be relatively straight forward for the normal "flat" windows, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to make something from scratch for the curved windows. Having a company do some one-off's would be ridiculously expensive.
