Classic 30 tow vehicle

New member here.... My wife and I are considering a 2016 Classic 30 and have a tow vehicle question. We have a 2018 Silverado 2500 4X4 with the 6.0 gas engine and the typical factory towing equipment. Do any of you have experience with a late model 6.0 towing this rig?

Classic 30 is well within the tow ratings of your truck. I tow with a similar vehicle, a 6.2L RAM 2500 Power Wagon (only comes in gasoline version) and don't have any issues. You will be fine.

PS: get a ProPride 3P and don't bother researching/looking up cheaper hitches. I've already done that.

Yes, and it's fine. I have towed my 2007 30' Classic with a 2500 6l on many occasions.

Thanks for the replies. I am not familiar with the 3P system, but will check it out. We currently tow a 24’ enclosed car trailer with an equalizer WD system.... so far so good.

Ditto on the ProPride. Don’t let the naysayers on the forum sway you. Super WD anti-sway hitch system. Allows for sharper backing angles an quite frankly makes backing easier due the pivot point being further from the tow vehicle.

do indeed have a strong following on this Forum, and I have yet to read any complaints about them (except possibly for their price and weight). I and many others, however, appear to use a Blue Ox quite satisfactorily, at around $500.

The longer the AS the more wind you will catch. I had a blue ox and bought a 3P. Driving on a really busy freeway with the blue ox was doable, but not comfortable. But everyone has their opinion. But you will not be disappointed with the 3P. They are just really expensive, but then again so is an AS.

Your Chevy will be fine. I tow a 28' Flying Cloud with an Equil-i-zer WD hitch with my 2008 2500HD and have no problems at all. I was actually very pleased with the way it handled on the interstates in Denver with semis and rush hour traffic. No problems and I was amazed how little semi truck push I felt while towing.

Sorry to but in however your advise on hitches is totally misleading. There are a number of great hitches out there for a fraction of the money a Pro Pride costs.

I unexpectedly had an event to give my Blue Ox the lane switch and back, collision avoidance test an interstate rolling at 70 and it worked perfectly. It held the trailer in check, no sway issues whatsoever. It worked awesome.
As to weight distribution, I moved 480 Lbs of my rear axle, 320 lbs was shifted to the front axle and 120 lbs to the trailer axle.
You can buy one for under $ 700.00 comes with 2 pages of instructions and you can install it your self in under an hour. The ProPride comes with 23 pages of instructions.

We have a 2016 30' Classic. Love the trailer. I looked at both the GMC/Chevy 2500 and Ford F250 in gas. Both vehicles were great. Choose the Ford but would have been happy with either. Installed a Reese Dual Cam hitch system.

Cost vs. Benefit? Trapezoid designed hitches are far superior to friction sway control systems. Safety tips the scale towards the benefit side. In fifteen years and a free hitch I have amortized down to about $100 per year. Cheap insurance.

Not sure how the Hensley works or how long it would take me to install. Loaded the boxes in my truck and the dealer had it installed while I went to lunch. Back in, drop in the pins, hook up the chains and tighten the jacks, and away you go!

That 6L Chevy has plenty of power to pull that trailer anywhere you want to go.

"Trapezoid designed hitches are far superior to friction control systems" is an opinion. The vast majority of trailer set-ups are not Hensley or Pro Pride hitches and yet we all seem to have traveled a collective millions of miles with nary a problem.

Are they top of the line? Probably. Are they necessary in every application? Hardly.

The 6L three-quarter ton will not have a problem. The only reason we went with the diesel is the exhaust brake and the one-ton for the additional payload. Also have the BlueOx Sway Pro and love it.

There's your answer.
Although depending on the tongue weight, you may need a different rated hitch.
