Centramatics

I was strongly considering ordering a set of Centramatics for the 30' Classic we have coming in December. See a lot of discussions about them on other parts of the forum but not so much on the "Classic" site. Is it because the Classics come with the Michelin LT tires and 16" wheels? Seems like most people put them on when they change from 15" to 16" tires.

Centramatics will benefit any Airstream. I love ours and feel they are well worth the investment. I run Michelin LT tires on my 23D.

The Centramatics can be used on any Airstream trailer or tow vehicle. I have them on both. The Centramatic balancer will help keep the tires balanced as they age. They also help with the balance of the brake drum/hub. It is a nice add-on but you don't have to have these. One caution is that the Centramatic balancer should be checked each time you have tire off the trailer. Make sure you can hear the balance media roll around in the tube. I had a set go bad on my truck one - the truck had a bad case of the "shakes". Currently my truck tires are wearing evenly across the entire tread face.

Another option is the use of balance beads. I have used these in an another old vehicle I own with success.

I echo GMFL and crispyboy. I have Centramatics on our 27FB and our F250.

Thanks guys, guess I will be ordering for the Classic and the @018 F250. I am assuming that they are model specific?

I ordered and have the balancers for my new Classic, but have not put them on yet. Busy busy busy! I installed them on my 27' and have nothing but good things to say about them. Centromatic makes a 16" version for the Classic.

Is there a specific model for the F250?

I have had Centramatics on y Airstreams for about twelve years now. Our 2005 25FB logged over 60,000 miles on a set of 16" Michelin LT's without any noticeable tread wear. We currently have a 2015 25FB with the same set-up. It currently has 48,000 miles on it and the Michelins still look like new. We also use Cemtramatics on our tow vehicles.

Call Centramatic in Texas. They are very helpful in getting you the correct balancers for your rig.

These are what Jerry @ Centramatic had me order for my 2012 F250.

http://www.centramatic.com/wheel-bal...Number=300-318

Give them a call to confirm for your model year.

I have them on our '12 31' Classic. Not sure if they help but I have 23K miles on my Michelins and they look new! At least they help me mentally...

One issue I had was at a Discount Tire store in Traverse City Michigan. They would rotate my tires but NOT put the Centramatics back on as they considered them 'spacers'. I went round and round with the manager but acquiesced as he was not giving in. I put them back on myself in a WalMart shopping center parking lot.

I had the same issue in Tucson. Maddening.

I have since got them to admit they were wrong...

Thought about going to the local Discount Tire and having them install TPMS and putting the centramatics on while they had the tires off. If they object, do you have any suggests about convincing them to do the install?

If your not having a problem why look for problems by installing another product.

It would be a lot less expensive to have your tires re-balanced. Dave

Go to a different retailer.
Do NOT go to Camping World, $200.00 to mount/balance 4, (off the vehicle)
$70.00 at GY.

Because "tire" balancing, does nothing for the rotating running gear.
Better results when the whole assembly is in tune. 😂

Many $$$$ for the AS and go thrifty on the safety makes little sense.

Road Force balancing & Centramatics have always worked for us.
