Camera tied into truck entertainment system

Has anyone ever done is? I have a Ford F-250 and would like to use the in dash system and not a separate monitor.

I've thought of this also and contacted Ford to ask if this was possible and they said no, not on the current system but the 2017 would have that ability with their own camera system.

Like Lets Travel said, Ford on the 2017 has a trailer camera system tied into the dash along with a bunch of other cameras. I've looked at them and I remember a back up camera, two side cameras, a fifth wheel hitch camera and the trailer camera. The new ones are four inches higher than our 2015 F350.

I have the trailer's rear view camera tied into my truck entertainment system, but mine is aftermarket.
I have a toggle switch to choose between the truck's backup camera and the trailer's rear view camera.

Go to a store like CarToys that sells and installs after market entertainment systems for vehicles. The will be able to help you. You may have to install a switch to use more than one video source (several cameras) on the main screen.

While it is not a cheap solution there is a device called a Lockpick that allows you to bypass the Ford lockouts for Sync. The practical use is that my wife can enter destination inputs into Sync while I am rolling down the road. It also has video inputs that allow your camera feed to be viewed on the Sync screen.

I test drove a 2017 F-250 with a camera system and while the camera coverage was impressive, the rearview camera mounted on the back of the trailer was not enabled when the vehicle was in motion. That dampened my interest although the Ford rep said they heard that feedback often. Has Ford modified the system to allow someone to monitor the rearview camera while driving to make it useful?

Here is a how-to for Fords.

http://www.ford-trucks.com/how-tos/a...-camera-356386

I did a similar install on a Ram but used the rear view mirror as the screen output location rather than the dash. The original mirror was exchanged for one than appears normal but, once illuminated, becomes a colored screen. I placed the camera in the tailgate handle for a better viewing angle when hitching.

What type of mirror did you use. I have a 2017 F250 with all of the cameras EXCEPT the additional camera that goes on the trailer. Who knew that it didn't come with the trailer backup package? I would like the trailer mounted camera (comes on the AS) to be tied in and also operational moving above 3 mph.
