Alde Heating 2018 Classic 30 - Radiant Heat

We are camping Monterrey, CA this week. The outside temps 52-61.

Turned off all heat last night and turned on my space heater to low 70 degrees.

The radiant heat turned on, and it got so warm that I had to turn the air conditioner on to cool it down.

Out of further desperation, I shut off everything in the trailer with the main "Kill" button (red) and restarted 10 seconds later.

The radiant system eventually cooled down and I was able to hit the sack with my space heater..

I read through my 2018 manual and there is no information on radiant heat

The towel rack was also hot to the touch.

Any insight out there?

Towel bar should be hot on our 18s or at least warm to the touch. Have you tried posting in the much ado about alde thread? I have had luck getting information off that thread and even had airstream directly reach out.

You should also be covered under warranty if you want to bring it into a local dealer to look at it.

www.alde.se. Go to the Alde website and download the manual for the Alde 3010. You will find it most helpful in understanding how to operate your system. There is a timer function in your system that may be set to on and causing the system to come on without your input. It is a radiant heat system and towel bar is part of the heating system.
As the previous poster said...go to the Much Ado About Alde thread on the Forum and start from the beginning. There are answers to most questions about the Alde system contained in that thread. It is an invaluable resource for those of us with 2017 & 2018 Classics.

I did not see the 3010 download only a 3020. Can you be more specific?
Thanks,

I've had no problems so far with Alde in our 2018 30'; it works perfectly. I'm curious about the timer function, though. It must be controlled by the control panel under the sink as I don't see a timer setting on the Firefly. Does it both turn on the radiant heat function AND select electric or gas mode (or both)? If both the electric and gas heater functions are set to "off" on the Firefly, will the heat still come on when the timer function turns on radiant heating?

It will not select gas or or electric. This basic system programming will “prioritize” electric if you are hooked up to shore power. If both electric and gas are set to off the timer will not turn on the system. We set ours to 55 degrees at 9:00 pm then 65 degrees at 5:30 am. It’s great.

Ok, thanks. Also, that would be one way for the OP to resolve his problem with the Alde system coming on of it's own accord. I mean, sure he could disable the timer function under the sink, but if that's actually the problem, a simple solution would be just to set gas and electric to off on the Firefly panel.

My understanding is timer is under the sink on the 2018s. Also, if my unit has the electric and gas turned off and the timer is on the unit comes on at the prescribed time, the circulation pump starts, but there is no heat generated at all as neither the electric nor propane kick on.

I've not used the timer, may this trip.
