2020 Classic Victron Panel

The victron panel for our solar system (2020 Classic 33, mounted behind cooktop) shows only “fetching history”. Buttons do not appear to have any function. Seems like a problem but wanted input from others.

Thanks.

We picked up our 2020 Classic today. I saw that panel. There is so much new stuff on the Classic I don't think I will ever learn all of it. We had a 2019 Globetrotter. Things were much less complex. I will be following this thread.

The Remote Display is having trouble communicating with the logic board on the controller. You didn't mention the model numbers you may have an externally powered MTTP display, in any case cycle the power on the units, It could be a microprocessor error. If that does not work clean the connections and re-seat them. If that does not work one of the cable connectors or connectors on either unit may be bad, In that case you may need to replace the component as the connectors are difficult to rebuild.

Find your solar controller and unbolt it from the floor or cabinet and check where the Victron gauge pugs in. It is not a great connection and can easily pull off the controller.

Mine got disconnected when Airstream at JC did some solar work for me. I had to put it back on myself.

I have had the same issue in our 2019 33FB. I unplugged the display at the charge controller found in the bathroom behind the access panel. Between the vanity and the wardrobe. Airstream did a good thing by mounting this equipment on extension drawers. Once you find the connection just unplug and reinsert. This worked for me but I hat to repeat every day. Finally purchased a Bluetooth dongle which rendered the display inoperable but added Bluetooth monitoring with much better controls and statistics of the solar system performance.
I believe it was less than $50 on Amazon and very easy to install. I never determined the original issue, just bypassed it with an upgrade.

I have the same issue. Monitor gets lost every few days. Disconnecting and reconnecting makes it work again. It's on the list.

Thanks for the responses. I suspected there might be a problem. Trailer is about to go into dealer for a list of warranty items so will add this to the list.

What a shame. Our trailer is loaded with Victron gear, all installed by AM Solar. It has performed rock steady, 100% reliable. This is very likely a problem created by poor installation at the factory. 🤨

Same issue with Victron display

Have the same issue with display constantly scrolling Fetching History and all charging stops on our 2020 Classic 30’. We have to reset every 5 - 7 days. Service discovered factory had 2 wires crossed up and that was fixed. Still had same issue. Airstream HQ said change display. Display has been replaced twice. Airstream HQ makes it appear that this is a very unique to our unit problem; I see here that it’s not. This is our 3rd Airstream with solar, but first experience with this Victron controller. HopAS gets their act together soon with a fix!

Our issue continues. Local dealer did not have a solution. Pulling plug from controller and "reseating" is only a temporary solution until someone is able to find the exact issue. I may end up buying the bluetooth dongle that Texsun purchased.

Thanks for providing input.

I just finished a solar install on a 2019 Classic and removed the Victron MPPT controller and replaced it with a Victron BMV 712. And added a Bluetooth dongle to the Victron MPPT 150/35.
It was not a bad install. I was able to remove the oven and use the existing VE Direct Cable to Pull the Data cable for the shunt to the monitor location.

I have the MPPT control monitor if you think that’s the problem.

The controller is in the bathroom under the cedar closet on the lower left. It is a blue Victron controller. As the unit is placed in the shelf, the connector for the monitor is on you left side on the back. You can reseat it. It just pulls out and plug back in. However, I highly recommend you get the Victron Bluetooth dongle. You will unplug that monitor and plug the in the Bluetooth dongle. There is then a free app for your smartphone and you get all kinds of stats, programming features and most importantly, you can update the program for the controller. Mine was 2 upgrades behind. It’s $33 on Amazon: Victron VE. Direct Bluetooth Smart Dongle

Updated to Victron BMV 712

Ordered Victron BMV 712 from Amazon for $206.55. Mounted it under the sofa in front of 2020 Classic 30. Works great so far; use phone app to monitor, but monitor is mounted in open space in arm if we want to view the display rather than on phone for some reason. Since it was a field install, didn’t want to remove oven, etc., to run cable.

Does it still charge the batteries while it reads Fetching History?

2020 30' Classis. Same issue Victron solar monitor displays fetching history. Un plug it and replug and it works for a few days then back to fetching history. Southland RV just replaced the monitor with a new one but after a few days its doing the same thing. Surely there is a common solution. Last time I e-mailed the factory they had no idea will try again. The new monitor did not fix the issue.

Bluetooth dongle or Victron BMV 712 is the only solution that seems to work. We left the factory monitor in place, placed the Victron BMV 712 under the front sofa and use the display on our phone. Works like a charm. Maybe Jackson will realize that without the ability to update firmware, the Victron monitors they purchased will not function properly!

Here's the solution:

I had the same issue as you and I unplugged the display, that worked for a few days. Then I unplugged from the solar control under the hall closet. That worked for a few days.

At that point I called my dealer who called Airstream. The instructions were to unplug the display for at least 3-4 minutes and then replug. I didn't have much faith in this since I had already done it (but didn't leave it unplugged for that length of time). To my surprise it has been working for about 3 weeks now.

Give it a try.

I e-mailed Chris Burch(Airstream Svc Jackson Center) and he replied that there is a cable that corrects the Fetching History problem.

I did unplug mine for 5 minutes to reset it. Have not been back to the Airstream to check it yet.

What exactly does fetch mean? When the display indicates “Fetch” is the system not charging the batteries? Anyone anyone?
