I have a 2020 classic rb. There is not a lot of fall from the black tank to the hose connection. I currently have a valterra silverback hose. The flange that connects to the camper has a lip that makes a little damn that catches debris and causes it to dribble for a while after removing the sewer hose. Is this common? Is there a better hose that eliminates this?

People use a variety of hoses.
I'd guess most use the Camco Rhino Flex.
But at $58, yours certainly is a top of the line hose.
I always dump the black tank first, then flush the hose by dumping the grey tank.
So if there's a dribble it's soapy water, not ......

Another way to explain it is the connector on the hose im using is slightly smaller than the outlet. So it creates a backup that only clears when I disconnect the hose.

NO that does not sound right.

Thanks for the responses. I purchased a new hose and by the looks of it it will either eliminate or reduce substantially my issue.

I have the same hose and same issue. My last hose was a cheapy and did the same thing. When I disconnect, I just hold the hose under it he outlet for a few seconds and seems y to be fine. If you find a hose that stops this problem, please share.

I have the same hose as Ronman and HDWells. This my second hose in 9 months and same problem with a more expensive hose as my first cheap hose.
I've been thinking about switching again to SewerSolution Macerator System. Anyone have an opinion on this and if that has same the issue or not?

The problem with sewer solution is it requires a pressurized water source to work.....if your boondocking remotely...no hookups, you'll be unable to dump and require the stinky slinky....so I guess it depends on how you camp and willing to work with.

As I mentioned above, check the link of the hose I use.......what you guys describe just doesn't happen.

if my new hose works better I'll post it, i'll know tomorrow. This is my first AS but I've owned a ton of others and this has never been an issue. I was considering putting a piece of tape across the drain outlet that makes something like a 3/16" damn then fill it with a self leveling adhesive. That would fill the area that's catching debris.

I tired the rhino hose. it was better but still collected debris right where the hose connects. its no big deal just a little annoying. I've got another idea but it will be a couple weeks before im able to report anything.

I tried a couple different hoses and a few different couplers and they all have slight step up that catches debris and creates a small dam. At the end of the day there is just not much fall in my system when the trailer is roughly level. Next time I may set the AS a little higher on the opposite side.

One thing that helped a bunch is a 45 degree connector with a hose connection. I used it after I was done with both valves closed and was amazed at how much debris was trapped between the valves and the outlet. It did remove everything and made for a much improved disconnect experience.

Thanks for the update. The 45 is a good idea. I will be getting one for sure.
