2020 Classic Router & AT&T

I was advised by AS customer support that some AS owners have added a router compatible with carriers other than AT&T. Does anyone have any information or is this just another AS misleading statement?

The Peplink modem will take all the popular carriers simm. So you can switch to any carrier. The Peplink modem has two spots to place a simm. One is for the AT&T white simm that Airstream is paying for. You do not want to replace it. Connect RV control is what uses this simm. Your Czone needs this to communicate with the features of the Classic trailers.

You are free to find a carrier for the other position. Don't look to AT&T for a competitive plan. Go elsewhere.

Check the website Mobile internet resource center for the latest deals. I cannot suggest one right now.

Which one of the SIM cards are which? We have a Verizon SIM card to test, but don’t know which to change. There is an A and B slot.

I believe it is the A slot. Is the color of the sim white? The first ones out there were this color. Mine is white.

And about the AT&T plans. Things have changed! AT&T now has a very competitive 100 gb plan for $50/month.

We have Airstream Connect is working. It can locate the trailer and recognizes the Verizon card. In Airstream Smart, location is accurate, but we are unable to connect to trailer’s CZone. The control and monitor buttons give the same error that the trailer is offline. Any thoughts? Although, the connection is a little tenuous.

As you may have seen on these fora and other places, the Pepwave hardware was recently "updated" and turned many of our systems into expensive bricks. Yesterday, finally, my system started working again. Have you reset your router and made sure you're running the latest software on it?

Has anyone experienced the issue where ATT has dropped the Pepwave as a 3G device? ATT in our area dropped 3G and the Pepwave keeps wanting to connect as a 3G device. I chatted with Cory about it and he said it's a 3G/4G/LTE device. Seems like it's possibly a firmware issue then.

Could be the sim. Maybe it's only priced as a 3G Sim.

I was at the local ATT store and they’re the ones that said it’s a legacy deceive. They showed me the internal ATT tech note on my account. The connection status displayed on on the Pepwave shows it trying to establish a 3G IP address, since there’s no 3G it times out. I had set it to LTE, but that doesn’t work. Cory sent me this modem after issue with the previous one doing the same thing. I’m surprised nobody else has had issues. We have free WiFi, so it is what it is. I’m thinking of getting a NightHawk, Cory said they’re faster that the Pepwave.

That doesn't make sense to me cuz I'm living full-time in mine and I have LTE advanced.

It could be a setting. In the pep wave if you have control of it you can select which signal to search for such as only 3G my guess is that's what's happening on yours. But you won't know unless you take control of it.

I had time to talk to ATT today. I moved the modem from Delaware to the DC metro where there’s good signal. I renewed my SIM to the 100g subscription so I can test with ATT. They reset my account and sent a couple resync messages out, nothing worked. I finally went to an ATT store and picked up a new SIM card. That didn’t work either. I have the ATT SIM in slot A (LTE only) and the white card in slot B. I was told the white card doesn’t do anything.

It’s in a loop, “obtaining IP address (LTE). Any thoughts?

Hi

There are two sim's. One is for your WiFi the other is to allow the CZone stuff to connect back to the factory. The factory SIM is indeed useless for anything other than the factory connection. If it's in the wrong slot, nothing much is going to work.

Simple answer: Swap them and see what happens .... You can always swap them back.

You know, I left the SIM cards in the way they were when it came. I’ve been told, shouldn’t matter what slot they’re in, makes sense… I swapped them and bang, it connected.
