2018 Classic 33 Incliner/Loveseat Replacement
Attached are photos of my latest project on my 2018 Classic 33: take out the incliner/loveseat and replace with two Lambright recliners and center cabinet. What an amazing difference! We can now watch the projection TV in fully reclined comfort!
I presented this modification to Ultimate Airstream in Portland last August; their first reaction was they didn’t think it could be done.
I did almost all the work myself; had a cabinetmaker friend help me with the Formica install on the back wall, and a kitchen and bath shop cut the Corian top for the cabinet.

Lambright Lazy Relaxor Wall Hugger. They also make a Lazy Relaxor Lite which is a bit smaller (and less comfortable).
Best prices I found were at www.glastop.com. Go to the RV Furniture tab on their website.

Very nice job! Looks comfy!
Now get busy and replace that 90's projection TV with today's Televaters!

Again, really nice job! I will keep the “90s projection screen” as it works just fine and goes with my outdated dark wood cabinets. Haha. Did you relocate your subwoofer and if so where? I can’t tell from the photos but I assume the Formica on the boxed in area matches the wood grain on your paneled walls?

I mounted the subwoofer under the Alde radiator just behind the wheel well. Specs on the subwoofer said it can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. It is visible on the picture with the wall framing.
My interior is Cognac Maple, which is also the color of the Formica on the walls. It is an exact match to the original Formica.
I covered the wall with 7 pieces of plywood/Formica; 3 of which are removable (with standard Airstream snap latches) so I can access the Alde radiator and subwoofer.

It’s not visible from the posted photos, but I added two duplex receptacles. One is dedicated to the chair power, the other has one AC receptacle and two USB jacks; to replace the USB jacks in the center console of the original recliner.

Beautiful! Nicely done! Even more fun when the experts say it can't be done.

Nice job. We previously had a 25'FC that we took the dinette out and put Lambright wall hugger recliners in. Loved them very comfortable. Traded for a 30' Classic in Oct and very displeased with the so call recliner/couch in it. The couch is fine for stretching out on but the two end chairs are not recliners they are chairs with power foot lifts.

That looks great! Are you interested in selling the one you took out? We have a 2006 30' Classic RBQ that we want to remove the old-style sofa that makes into a bed with a recliner sofa. We live in Grapevine and I notice you're in Granbury. Not sure if it would fit but if you're interested we'll measure and get in touch. David and Anna Brandon, #5157

When we toured the Ultimate Airstream shop last August, there were two Classic 30's in their service bay in the process of removing the original sofa/loveseat and replacing with recliners.
The Classic 30 floorplan would be much easier to do a recliner retrofit, since they are located at the front of the trailer with no real obstructions to the front. There are a lot of really nice recliners that are not wall-away designs that would fit in a Classic 30.
The Classic 33 has the curb-side wheel well to build around, as well as most of the power and control cables. Lambright was the only workable option I could find.
When my recliners are in the full recline position, there is an inch of clearance behind and two inches of clearance in front. Note that I also had to remove the desk chair to make it work.

We bought a 2019 33FB Classic last year. The first thing I did was get rid of the super-uncomfortable love seat. I took it out and built a frame out of 1/2” square tube which I covered with a black board. All of this covered up the fender well, wiring, etc. I installed two La-Z-Boy chairs (which is our pick of the litter). They have electric recline and electric feet lift. Ahhhhh....life is good and comfy now!

Very impressive and thanks for sharing! I was going to wait a while before modifying, but now I am inspired. TexasRVer, can you also add some pics of your project?

Hey Aircats
A previous post said that you’re in Granbury. Do you live in Pecan Plantation? I do. I have a Classic 30 at 9700 Ravenswood and I like to discuss dinette options. Hope to hear from you.

My domicile is Granbury, but I full time in my Airstream, so I’m rarely in town. Happy to discuss dinette modifications, although I have not looked at any changes there.
The following link is a good place to get some ideas....

Thanks for posting! We are doing some remodeling in our Squarestream and thinking about replacing the gaucho with recliners. Hate to loose the storage, but recliners would be much more comfortable.

33ft recliner removal
This was a great post! I know it is older. But I had a question. I’m getting ready to pull out the recliner loveseat and dinette benches to reupholster them. Did you have any issues you ran into while removing them and or any tricks to getting them out? Thanks Alex
