2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD tires

I'm pulling a 2016 AS Classic 30 with a 2011 GMC 2500HD Denali crew cab. The tires on it now are Toyo LT 285/55 R20's. The ride is too rough and you feel every bump in the road. The truck is in great condition no suspension issues.

I want to get highway tires more like OE. I have been looking at the Michelin Defender LT 265/60/20.

Any suggestions from similar truck owners.
Thanks in advance!
Ken

Those are the exact Michelins I use on my 2013 Chevy 2500. I replaced the original Goodyears with these, got about 65K miles out of them and am on my second set. Very happy with them. I don’t know whether they alone are the resolution to your rough ride - mine isn’t fought to begin with but I do feel like the tires made a positive difference in smoothness of ride. Good luck!

Ken, great question!

I like to research tires on the Tire Rack website. They do their own testing plus have reviews by actual owners - they’ll show you how many miles owners have logged on them. This gives you a pretty good idea how they perform in all conditions, dry, wet and snow.

Your particular truck had four different tire sizes offered in 2011:

The 285/55’s were not the OEM size for 20” wheels. The factory 20”s are 60’s which would ride better due to the taller sidewall.

The Michelin Defenders are top rated for Highway all-season tires on their site.

I’ve bought six sets of tires over the years from them. Shipping is now free and they’ll deliver to a local installer so you don’t have to shlep them around. *You can find a recommended local installer on their website.

If anything, use Tire Rack for research!

Good luck in your hunt!

PS: I’m disappointed in the factory tires on my 2019 Ram 2500 (Firestones) and will be replacing them as soon as they’re worn out or I lose patience with them. They finished 8th out of 8 on the Tire Rack site. Going with the Grabbers when the time comes.

Check out Michelin Agilis CrossClimate too

Ken, after doing some more research I found another Michelin tire that also carries the Snowflake rating (winter tire). It's designed for light trucks and commercial fleets.

I'd prefer a 4 season tire like that. Costco has a deal $110 off through the end of January too.
