Old Granddad at 1982 Airstream Factory Rally

Here are some pictures of Old Granddad being towed in a parade as part of the festivities at the 1982 Airstream Factory Rally. I was just a kid, but remember being in awe of this fabulous trailer, as I still am today.


I had originally thought this was taken at the 1980 Homecoming Rally (the first of its kind), but the 34' Airstream behind the old Clipper dates it as at least 1982.



These were found in Dad's slide collection which I am having scanned. There are many pictures of Airstream rallies we attended throughout the 1980s. Great memories!

Yes, thank you. I have been enamored with Old Granddad since I first saw it at 5 years old at the 1980 Airstream Homecoming Rally. I have been familiar with this iconic trailer since then, and have seen dozens of pictures of it...usually with it sitting still.

It was cool to personally see it being towed in the parade, and also to have found these pictures recently of it in the parade. A nice, unexpected gift left by my late father.
