What is this Valve handle for near Water Heater

We just got a new 2018 Intl. Serenity 25FBT and there is a valve handle to the right of the Water heater. It is accessed through the curbside front storage area. There is a little mousehole cutout for access. When you turn it water comes out a white tube under the trailer. My question is what is this for? The water heater has the plug for emptying. Could this be another way to empty the heater? I am showing pics.

Thanks for your help!

That is a low point drain you would open as part of the process when draining your plumbing lines during winterizing. There should be a couple more in various places, I don't know your floor plan, your manual will tell you where they all are.

Really! I so have the 2 low point valves (bottom of fresh water) and the regular fresh water valve. I found the hot water bypass valve under the twin bed (that will be a bear to reach).
So, what water is drained when I turn that black valve?
Thank you so much for you help!!!!

It drains water from lines not drained by the other low-point drains. It just depends on how the plumbing is laid out.

Welcome to the forum!

Ditto to pcskier. Have you checked the manual? Various models can have different low point drains all over the place. You posted in a good sub-forum for your model, so hopefully someone with an identical model/year can confirm.

This is a good time to get familiar with all your plumbing, so that the winterizing process is second nature when you need to.

Happy trails,

Peter

PS -- Here is the winterizing sub-forum -- a good place to check out various threads:

Hello. I have a 2017 Serenity 25FB. I have the same valve. If you open up the pressure relief valve at the top of your hot water heater and then open up that valve you show in your picture, it will drain your hot water tank completely. I’ve tried a siphon through the drain plug just to see if any other water was left behind and on mine there is not. So. I find it very handy indeed. As you mentioned, the bypass valve is on the other side of the heater accessed from inside and is a bit of a bear to reach!

Very interesting quietguy. I wondered just what water would come out being at that location. It would be easier to use than the plug.

Question for you about that yellow bypass valve. Can you get your hand down through the hole and all the wires that surround it?

I have the same valve next to the water heater in my 2018 27FB. I found it when about a half gallon of anti-freeze leaked out when I was winterizing for the first time. Made a real mess in my barn. Dealer had apparently left it open. I looked everywhere in the manual. Absolutely no mention. The manual openly talked about the two low point drains and the water tank drain located near the curb side wheel well.

Too many generic manuals that are no updated correctly.

If it’s just off the floor under your bathroom sink, it’s a drain valve and should be closed during normal operations. I know that because I had exactly the same issue - partly opened valve when I received the trailer.
