Question Smaller table for 2023 23FBT

I find the table to be so large that sitting in the dinette area is uncomfortable - and I'm not a big guy. Has anyone replaced the table with something smaller? How did it work out?

Springfield Low Profile Slide and Swivel

Replaced the crappy dinette table drawer slides with a “”real” slide swivel mount. Fisheries Supply Part Number SPR 3100656. Airstream should have done this from the beginning. It mates with the existing air pedestal. Best upgrade for wobbly table. Functions just like existing setup only better. No wobble. Turning table sideways? Yup. Easy movement of table back and forth? Yup. Still makes into bed? Yup. Literally Airstream used two drawer slides instead of this part.

Pottery Barn

I noticed at least one person with an International got a "free" Pottery Barn pedestal.

RMNummi,
Can you tell me if it locks in multiple positions?
Besides the “tilt” we current experience it would be nice to have multiple lock positions when pulling table out.

The previous owner of our 2018 23 FC RBQ had replaced the original table with a smaller one; we really liked it. I believe he custom made it to fit; he gave us the Airstream one but we never used it and sold it on with the trailer. Just posting for the idea, not sure if this is what you are looking for.

Table

Yes - that's the idea. And get rid of the "factory" tilt at the same time.

I don't have the dimensions recorded anywhere, but if I recall it was a standard size tabletop. Maybe 2' across by 18" or so; you can get an idea by the placemats and plates.

Agree with you on the tilt feature, ours never was that stable.

Have you thought about maybe a simple camp table you set up when needed? We are mulling over options taking out parts of the rear dinette on our current 25FB and had this conversation this morning. We did something similar in our previous 30RBQ, putting in a dual recliner, and really liked it.

I had a walnut butcher block end-grain table top made that nests perfectly when lowered to make a bed.

I upgraded my in-laws flying cloud table top and also used the Springfield mentioned but customized with 4 heavy duty slides also took 3/4 inch off each side (not much smaller but it helped)

Slides

What exact slides did you use? Undermount I assume.

I used 22 inch side mount but turned them horizontal and then limited the travel with a screw and the reason I did that was because it’s 22 inch had three layers of metal for the extra rigid support. Basically, the four slides attached to the under board of the table top I made, and those mount to the pedestal below.

Table Size

We replaced our pedestal with a Pottery Barn slide. This slide is quite rigid, far more sturdy the what it replaced. It can be moved forward and back and side to side; locking in a my position. However we can no longer rotate our table. We kept the table size the same and find with the two of us the space is just right. Part of our reason for not wanting to reduce the table size is to retain the ability to make into a bed. We are no looking at reducing the width of our cushions along the window, because the bench is too narrow. The table slides adding space but that doesn’t solve the bench issue.

We are quite happy with the new table.
