Power Awning problems on new 2018 25FB Serenity.

We are new to the RV world as we were previously tent campers.
Picked up a new 25FB Serenity the end of May 18 and we are on a 10 week trip around the country.
The Airstream is great and what a tremendous experience. We’ve had a few squads but nothing serious and I have been able to make the repairs myself.
I do have a question about the power awning.
It opens fine one push of the button and the awning opens completely.
Closing is a different story. It stops after a few seconds and I have to push close again. It then runs for a few seconds and stops. I have to repeat the process about 6-8 times to close the awning.
Any suggestions as to root cause of problem?
Thanks

Yes, the root cause of the problem is you have a power awning instead of a manual one. My 2014 power awning has been a royal PITA. I will never own another one.

Actually I have never had any problems yet with our Relax Awning, not to say we won't at some point. But I have talked with Zipdee about the awning and they were very helpful. I talked with someone named Jimmy who seemed to be on top of all problems. Their number in the owners manual is; 847-437-0980.

I didn't either until after two years. Maybe they have solved the issues on newer ones, but I doubt it because of the complexity of the thing. There are many threads here about the issues.

We own a 2017 Int. Serenity 23D and love it. Just watched Colonial Airstreams video on the 2019 Int, Signature. In video Patrick said that all Internationals now come standard with POWER AWNING! HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!! They are the worst. Return to the manual, no muss, no fuss, works every time awning!!! AAARRRRGGH!

There are many, many postings about POWER AWNING FAILURES. do not add to the fray. Surely you guys have heard of KEEP IT SIMPLE SIMON!

I have read the postings also. But after having two fifth wheels and two motor homes before purchasing my first of 4 Airstreams, I never had a problem with the power awnings. Most fifth wheels and most all motorhomes have power operated awnings. Don't know why the Airstreams are having so many problems.
At least I have become familiar with the manual operation procedures if I ever have to use them.

But were they Zip Dees?

I'm sure Airstream will let you order a trailer with the manual awning for the $500 change fee. Airstream, are you listening??? A lot of us really don't want power awnings.

Now that would be something...pay $500 to eliminate what used to be a $3500 option!!!

Back to the original issue. I have a 2018 27FB with the power awning. One thing I discovered was that you can't turn off the main power to the awning after you extend it. The logic board sort of "forgets" where it is and has to re-calibrate, causing the closing issues. After I had similar issues, I read the manual (duh!), where this was spelled out.

Carth....you have to call Airstream. Talk to tech support. They don’t reply to individual emails or posts....well, sometimes they do but most of the time they do not. Give them a call Monday morning.
For what it’s worth. I’m on the I don’t like the power awning team. I hate the darn thing. So many issues, the slightest wind or barely rained on and they get bent, broken, etc. I have only had my awning deployed a couple of times in the year and a half that I have owned my Airstream. I have no issues with any of the other awnings on the rig. I had a kill switch installed after hearing three too many reports of them deploying on their own.
