Larger Bathroom Mirror
I’ve not figured out why Airstream used an 8” folding mirror in the bathroom of our 2017 International 30, but I couldn’t take it any longer.
Replaced with an 18” fixed mirror. What a difference!

Lockable Mirror Cabinet
I too added a larger mirror - the IKEA Gunnern lockable for $40. You can hang it either way up so that the door swings the way you want. Added useful, locking storage too. I removed the telescoping mirror.

The fold-out mirror really bothers me also after owning an FC19 and FC25 with larger mirrors. Another problem is the location of the ceiling lights in my opinion. I pull the small 8" mirror way out so I can back up a bit and have my face illuminated by the ceiling light well enough to shave and I would guess some ladies would have a problem with the height of mirror and poor lighting too?! I like the large wall mounted mirror idea. I put a 10" x 40" mirror on the back of one of my wardrobe doors for a dressing mirror which has been useful. I may relocate or replace one of the ceiling lights near the mirror to improve illumination and will replace the 8" soon. It's on my projects list!

I was somewhat expecting to need to do something with the lighting after I installed the larger mirror because it definitely seemed like lighting was a problem when we had the folding mirror. I actually find the lighting is okay now though.

Good to hear that with the larger mirror that the existing light is OK. I like the round mirror shape you used. Looks good with the curve of the outer wall. I'll follow your lead. Great idea.

dmcgaugh, do you remember the name of the company that made your mirror? I think it looks great, and the little circular fasteners are like big rivets. Love it!

...I ended up ordering it as one of their semi-custom mirrors because their stock round mirrors have a beveled edge and I wanted a plain edge.
And I bought the fasteners off of Amazon.

I also used an adhesive behind the mirror in addition to the fasteners, because I wanted the mirror to be very secure.

What kind of mirror did you use? Our full length door mirror fell off it brackets after going on a washboard road for 8 miles in the Nevada desert. Our bracket screws loosened with the vibration.

We purchased a 2019 Serenity 30RBQ this weekend and first modification is adding a mirror we never installed in previous RV. Did we just trade for a new RV just to make use of the old mirror?

I have a 6lb. mirror that I have attached using 8 of the heavy duty command strips. They hold 4lbs. each, for a total of 32lbs of support. Has anyone had recent success with a mirror of that size using command strips? I have seen posts of people using them for full length mirrors, just wondering if anyone has had good or bad results and recommendations. Since the bathroom mirror is right over the axles in our serenity, seems like the chances of a bounce producing 5G of force could be a likely problem. The mirror feels very secure.

Not so secure
Command strips are weak under shear loads that is why when you pull down they come off. The weight of a mirror hanging is a shear load. If you can add mirror hangers with fasteners .

How about a mirror that has brackets and hangs over the top of the door. Is there enough clearance for the brackets?

Larger Bathroom Mirror
Installed a similar mirror to the inside of my wardrobe door. The hangers were too big to fit tightly over the top of the door so I carefully drilled holes on the edge of the frame and screwed it to the back of the door.
I carefully selected the stainless steel sheet metal screws for enough length to secure the mirror without going all the way through the thin door. I used three on each side of the mirror and one on top and bottom. It’s not going anywhere. DW loves it.

This is the mirror I added after I saw what Wulfraat posted above. I'd rather not put it on "permanently" with adhesive, so if the command strips won't work, then I'll have to look for some sort of supports to add. I know I've read that command strips had worked for others, but maybe those mirrors were lighter.

I had mirror supports screwed in around a full length mirror on the outside of the bathroom door so we could open the door and my wife who is 4’10 could see herself in it (the bathroom mirrors are too high). The screws were small and eventually stripped through their holes and could not be tightened. Lasted about 1 year. Are the sheet metal screws larger in diameter?

I used #8 Phillips head stainless steel sheet metal screws probably 1” long through the plastic mirror frame into the back of the wardrobe door. The mirror is a black plastic-framed glass mirror from Walmart I think. DW picked it out from an on-sale display.
The screw length was determined by my measurements of the frame thickness and the door thickness added up, then I subtracted 1/4 inch and went to the next shorter standard size at the local big box home improvement store.
Drill the clearance holes in the mirror frame first, then hang it from the top screw. Center it up and drill pilot holes tight to the screw thread root diameter and don’t go through the door. Put the screws in by hand.
