Freshly purchased 2024 International 23FB twin

Hi all. New to the forum. Just purchased my new 2024 International 23FB twin couple days. While I was inspecting it I noticed a couple things that appear to have changed from the model I looked at back in Nov 2023.

My unit was completed on 1-23-24.

1. My unit has newly designed door lock from the Trade Wind. Not sure if it's an upgrade since it's plastic but that is what I got.

2. The two exhaust fans are now Maxxair fans and not the Dometic Fantastic fans.

These things stood out to me. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed any other changes made recently. Finally, I was wondering if anyone had any new information on the GE Profile AC unit? I searched and haven't found too much info on it. Maybe the jury is still out on it?

thanks

Nice trailer!
How about a few pictures of that fancy new lock?

Here you go. Not the best photos, but I think they work.

Cool trailer.
Be sure to make some spare door keys and hide them
The older door lock sucks, so be happy with the new version.
And...Maxxair is a WAY better vent fan, and very important.

Have fun!

Congratulations and welcome!

Hopefully, the new door lock is an improvement. We don't have any complaints with our shiny metal one.

Agree with @mb88, I don't pass up a chance to rail against Fantastic Fans; both of ours broke right after we picked up our 2023. The vent covers brackets cracked off and don't open all the way. I replaced the covers but one broke again. We are headed to JC in March to hopefully get them replaced with the Maxxair which I hear are superior.

We have a Coleman A/C, so don't know about the GE. I think we got the transition to GE air conditioner since it's not on many. It has the Coleman thermostat, which doesn't impress me. I feel like a chimp randomly pushing buttons until it reaches the mode I want.

I'm curious, do you know what charger/converter they are using? Is it lithium ready? Our charger was a WFCO (another issue) which I replaced with a Victron.

We really like the twin beds in the 25'. Good choice, IMHO.

What is that Green Eye looking thing on the wall in the entrance below the switches?

That's the use/store switch. In use mode, the full trailer is powered and in store mode only essential (detectors) things are powered.

It appears to have the same WFCO 8955 auto detect as in my Caravel, only this one has a sticker on it stating that the default setting is for LiFePo4 batteries. I hope that it works better, I could never keep my prior on in the Li charging profile for more that a couple days or so.

We picked up our 2024 international 23’ in Nov 23; old style lock, Maxxair fans and an auto detect charger. I’ve checked the charger several times (glance into the inverter from the floor and check to see if the led light is blue) and it’s always on lithium mode. Which is what we have.

Interesting, I guess someone was listening to the complaints. But I guess if you started out with lithium that should be the default.

Congratulations on your new Airstream! It sounds nice. As for the fans, I have two Fantastic Fans that I installed in 2013. They are the ones with all the goodies. I have never had any trouble with them. I will say that you have to open the lid and lube the seal before use as noted in the paperwork. I don't know but perhaps those whose lids broke right away were not lubricated and stuck on the seal- my guess. The MaxxAir fans are nice but, in my opinion are not superior just an alternative. The main thing is you have a fan for more temperate days- a nice feature. So, are you saying your door latch is plastic?

Thanks for sharing your photos.
I do like the looks of the metal door handle better than the black. The metal one had its problems, let hope this one is an improvement and not just a change because it cost less.
Good luck with your AS and safe travels!

I have a 2024 delivered Aug 6, 2024. Same trailer metal door handle and fantastic fans. You are lucky I will be putting in max air fans this summer. The air conditioner is GE which has been replaced once and the condensate drain leaks down side of trailer rather than through the pipe. They said they are working on that. 2024 23fbt is our 4th airstream and we love it.

Oh wow, can I ask what failed on the unit? How long did you have it before it needed replacement? Finally, what was the service time for such a repair?

The GE never worked properly. Apparently the drain has a pump in it, it would leak down side of trailer rather than the drain tube. The service people at the dealer found it was freezing up, after their conversations with mothership they replaced the whole unit. Total time 2 day at Airstream MN one to diagnose and two weeks later 1day to install. In Minnesota I need to see this summer if it is all good. I'm still not sure the drain is corrected, but they are aware of that.

Well finally picked up the new rig. Couple things.

1. The new black door handle is actually metal and not plastic, so that makes me feel a little better about it. I was worried about plastic failing over time

2. Sadly, I am already having an issue with the GE AC unit. Everything cycles on but the compressor clicks off after about 2-3 mins. I have contacted the dealer and will bring it in. They believe it may be something simple that could have resulted in when the soft start was installed. Kinda of a pain, but not the end of the world.

3. Apparently for the GE units you must use a specific GE soft start to keep the warranty. I can't confirm this, but I was told that by the service folks when going over the pre-delivery work that was completed.

We dig the new trailer and can't wait to take in out for the first shakedown.

thanks

Took my new 2024 23' home last week. Roof unit drains on the roof vs the hose. Am I looking at the same replacement?

Seems like it just wasnt connected. I got up on my ladder and I can see the water drip down from under the cover on the unit........

Dealer told me the pump that pushes the water through the AC drain hose is defective and they will replace it under warranty of course.

What ever happened to gravity doing this? It shouldn't have been made complicated...

The dealer replaced my unit. Water still pours down the curb side of the trailer instead of the hose. Airstream says that is the way it is. I extremely disappointed that is the answer from them. I have owned 4 airstreams and I love them but there is a limit.

No, thats wrong. Sometimes, if its really humid, the trays can overflow. However its supposed to and designed to drain down the drain tube, not down the side of the camper.

I would not accept that as an answer. If it is not draining through the hose at all, its broken.
