I just went to see this custom patio 1963 Airstream International Tradewind make it n

We recently found an awesome airstream. They are asking $10,500. We just went to go see it and it looks awesome in person. I was hoping someone with more knowledge than me could let me know if the custom work on this airstream would be an issue for use on the road.

We plan on putting a kitchen area and a composting toilet if we purchase it.Links to pictures of airstream:https://imgur.com/a/2w1UqRc

I would definitely walk away from this one. Missing door, windows and major structural work to replace what is missing. It is a hard enough task to rebuild one when you have all the pieces. Keep looking.

The monocoque structure has been violated big time. I agree with the walk away sentiment. You should add it to the voting choices. - Brad https://e1airstream.wordpress.com/20...2/monocoque-2/

Ugh! One can only hope it was wrecked before they finished it off. Without major work and lots of money, this one is moored.

I wouldn't walk away from this one. I'd run (or at least jog)!

Sorry there is nothing "awesome" about this Airstream. It might look nice, but it isn't practical for camping. Look past how something looks, and look at from how your going to sleep, eat, use the bathroom, cook, etc, all the real stuff you do while camping. That is much more important then the color of the curtains or how it looks. But again just my worthless .02c.

Ragmarket,

I actually think it's interesting but very use specific. And it's use might be right where it's at currently. Not even sure that's towable.

Thx for sharing.

Keep looking guys and build your knowledge and perspective. You won’t believe what you can find for $10K if you’re patient.

Good luck,
John

I had to re-read your first post to make sure you didn't want it as a pool cabana, etc. On the road? Quote the raven, "Nevermore!"

If it was wrecked before this redo, it is better than scrapping it. If it had a decent shell... I will refrain from using my Anglo-Saxon vocabulary to describe it.

RUN away - quickly!

The 'modifications' to this Airstream definitely make it NON-roadworthy!

I'll add my vote to run away. Looks like a cute, but stationary, project. Not real practical, but cute as a B&B, guest house, or something similar. Definitely not something to travel with.

For on the road use.....yep no. Now if 35 years ago when I was courting my wife and could have this parked somewhere never to be moved.....yeah maybe.
And now that I am way past kids if I had a cool place to park it and never move it and pretend I am 35 years younger maybe....
