I traded my 2001 Safari on a new unbuilt 2003 Classic Slide out. I started out the conversation with the dealer noting that I would deal on a wholesale to wholesale basis or a retail to retail basis since the Safari was still new and was really in pristine state. Dealer said he would deal retail to retail basis and he offered me the retail value (MSRP) of my 2001 trailer against the MSRP of the Classic. As it ended up my original deal for my new build 2001 Safari was $4,000 less than the MSRP. So technically I received over $30,000 equity against the MSRP of the Classic. Interesting thing was that when I gave him my documentation and the Airstream binder, in the binder was a copy of the document for the trailer that was the equivalent of the price sticker on the window of a car or truck. He immediately took that document from the binder saying he didn't want to give that to the buyer of my trailer. Made me wonder how much that buyer of my trailer was paying for that trailer.
