1964 Airstream Bambi II

Equally well suited either for the collector or the Airstream enthusiast who would enjoy the magic of road trips and camping in an iconic vintage classic, this trailer underwent a restoration by the craftsman owner in 2007 and a full off frame floor and countertop restoration, as well as a full polish, by Hoss RV in 2017/2018. Taking many hours to complete, the result is a blend of practical and vintage classic that retains its original character and charm neutral colors with a subtle art deco flare while at the same time is fully functional.

The original floor plan was altered significantly to fit our lifestyle. Most every component was removed and replaced. In particular, the bathroom was removed to make way for a full sized bed, significantly opening the trailer visually. The functionality of the front dinette was maintained, as it converts to a single bed with 2 large open storage compartments under the benches. So, the trailer can sleep three comfortably. All cabinets were replaced with Arkansas walnut and walnut plywood. The cabinets were designed mostly to be open visually, with sliding steel racks. This cabinet added storage and countertop space at the expense of the couch that was there previously. The counter and table tops are done in inch Corian 2017/18 . Also installed/done during the 2017/18 restoration was a new marine plywood subfloor and waterproof plank wood look flooring color goes deep in the material , new AGM batteries, new exterior lights, tires, window seals, pex plumbing, and a Precision Temp In line water heater. On the exterior, panels were added above the wheels, where for some reason, they had been cut out before. This can be seen in the photograph.

In the 2005/07 restoration most everything else, like the gray water tank fresh water holding tank is original , Xantrax battery charging system, cooktop, catalytic heater furnace, sink and faucet, new OEM axle, plumbing and propane systems replaced with Aluminum propane tanks, refrigerator, window hardware, lighting, steel bumper and hitch, etc. The bed and cushions are super high quality and very comfortable at least for us .

I estimate that the trailer has been towed less than10,000 miles since the 2007 restoration was completed. We mainly used it for local camping, and for the most part, kept is housed indoors when not in use. It has been very gently used and well maintained. There are a few cosmetic issues inside from the top off some rivet rows are unpainted. Also, a panel was added over the old refrigerator vent and that is unpainted.

The trailer is available for viewing in Fayetteville Arkansas. Delivery is possible. Price includes weight distribution hitch and Sunbrella awning.

About the Bambi II: The Bambi II was only manufactured in 1964. While the 1961 1963 Bambi were 16 feet, the Bambi II was 17 feet. I have read that only 230 Bambi II s were manufactured, but do not know this for sure.
