Micro-Air EasyStart 364 Soft Starter

Title: Add New - Airstream Trailer Classifieds - Airstream Trailers For Sale
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

It's 2020, and to celebrate EasyStart's UL Compliance achievement, Micro-Air is bringing back the $40 COUPON exclusively for our Airstream Customers only!

Retail price is $299. Enter “AIRSTREAM†Coupon Code at checkout for $40 off!

EasyStart is a one-of-a-kind, custom-developed soft starter for single-phase motors. It can support both 115V and 230VAC motors. (A specialized model now exists for 115V-only RV applications, at a reduced cost!) EasyStart employs a 4-part start ramp sequence that is self-optimizing, resulting in the lowest possible start-up current. EasyStart can deliver up to 75% start current reduction as compared to a compressor’s LRA (locked-rotor amperage). It also has numerous specialized fault checks not found in any other soft starter to provide further protection for your compressor.

EasyStart is the perfect solution that allows an air conditioner or refrigeration compressor to operate on a generator, inverter, or limited utility power when it would otherwise not have functioned. It can also be applied to air compressor and fluid pump motors.

The EasyStart 364 is capable of supporting up to a 36000 BTU (3 ton) compressor. It includes a fully-weatherproof (IP65), flameproof, plastic enclosure with an integrated mounting flange and wire harness. Specialized models exist for various applications.

*** MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE ***
EasyStart will allow to start and run your Dometic Penguin II (commonly used on Airstreams) on a Honda EU2000i generator. Of course, we expect you will be willing to work with us to help you troubleshoot it if it does not initially work for some reason. If after that, it still does not work and/or you still want to return it, we will refund you the purchase price.
You can contact us by filling in the form on the right hand column of the ad listing:

Great product and easy to install. I purchased two on Jan 20, 2020 and got the $25 per unit AIRSTREAM discount. Still worth the price to make the AC/Heat Pump startup easier, quieter, and allow one of my units to run on my Westinghouse 2,500 Inverter/Generator.

But is it worth installing if your camping is at state parks or RV parks with shore power? I understand if your are on BLM / Boondocking with an inverter generator. And why does it void the Dometic warranty unless installed at the mothership? What if your local AS 5-RIVET dealership does the install?

If you have two A/C's and camp at Texas state parks with 3- amp service, it is well worth it in my opinion. You can run both A/C's if you install this on both. You do have to be careful with other electrical loads. You can search here for the warranty discussions and consider Micro-Air's warranty. I do not see why it matters who installs it on that discussion. Your dealer is an Airstream dealer and the A/C is a Dometic product. The issue remains the same

I think you meant to say 30 amp service!

Do you reverse the magnetic polarity if it’s on a diesel?

After all of our custom wiring for power was done in the summer of 2014 to our 2014 Airstream 31’ Classic built in January 2014, the stock Dometic thermostat with two air conditioners could not consistently make both units run at the same time. We tried all kinds of resetting and initialization tricks to no avail. Nothing worked for more than a few cycles. We lived with this issue until August 2020 when we installed the new MicroAir thermostat. We can now operate both air conditioners or heat pumps at the same time with no issues.

A bonus is that the new thermostat displays the (sometimes erroneous) outside temperature information coming from the Dometic logic boards mounted in our air conditioner. The factory model did not. I learned that Dometic and Coleman put in these sensors primarily because they don’t want our heat pumps trying to do impossible work after freezing at 0 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Fahrenheit. At the least it gives a relative idea of outside air temps to determine whether to use heat pumps or furnace. The furnace also sends hot air under the floor to heat the three water storage tanks so if the temperatures are close to freezing, we use the furnace.

At the same time as the thermostat was installed, we installed EasyStart 364s on both Dometic air conditioners. The ramp up of the compressors is so smooth and quiet that we needed to check air flow to see if cooling is actually happening. I see that story repeating itself on the forums and on Facebook.
