Avion C-10 Pickup Camper

Title:
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

Vintage Avion C-10 Pickup Camper For Sale
Ann Arbor Michigan

These campers were manufactured by the Avion Coach Corporation in Benton Harbor Michigan in the 1960s and early 1970s. There is a great deal of information on the internet about these campers so I won’t go into it here.
Here is a good link to a restore project and a short bed truck.

These campers are designed to be used on an 8’ bed. They are fairly heavy (C-10 is listed at 1850 lbs) so a ¾ ton truck is ideal. This is the reason these campers don’t bring a lot of $$$. They are adored by many, but who has a ¾ ton truck with an 8’ bed?? So if you do, you are in a position to take advantage of the reasonable pricing of these vintage icons.

Yes, some people do haul them on their 6’10” beds, and it works, but the weight distribution and handling are less than ideal.

I bought this camper a few years ago thinking that I was going to restore it and buy a truck for it. Then I bought a 27’ Airstream trailer and I’m not going to be using the Avion now. So off it goes to a new home.

Funny thing about this C-10, is the extreme condition. The exterior is extremely good, but the interior is extremely bad! Search the web and look at some of these units, you will see very few that don’t have any dents and dings on the outside. This unit has one tine scratch on the right rear corner, otherwise it is perfect outside.

The inside, not so much. Everything is there (except the cushions), and the cabinets are in good shape, but the floor is rotted out from a water leak. Not sure where the leak was because it doesn’t seem to leak now but the whole floor will need to be replaced. I don’t know anything about the appliances. I’ve never tried any of them but they look pretty bad and I’d be surprised if they work.

I did bring this home (about 20 miles) with my short bed F-250 with no issues.

I am located 10 miles south of Ann Arbor Michigan. I will answer any questions I can. I have more pics to. Thanks.
