Title: 1992 Airstream 30 30 - California
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
Selling my Airstream Classic 300LE Motorhome. The beauty of this machine is that it has never been left sitting since it was restored in late 2016. The airstream is driven and occupied constantly, receiving regular “exercise”.
As many know, a an older motorhome, particularly an Airstream, used only a few times a year and left sitting for months caused rapid decay. I looked for two years to find this Airstream, which was purchased in January 2017.
It had been a restoration by a retiring couple in Mechanicsburg, PA who both had extensive automotive experience including an auto upholstery shop. By the time the time the airstream was completed, an injury followed by a decline in health for one of its owners forced its sale. In addition to what they did to restore and/or replace everything in the interior, since purchasing I’ve improved a number of other things, which are mainly mechanical.
Interior
- The oven was replaced with an excellent new electric convection/microwave/broiler
- dometic fridge freezer - works great
- fresh water system replaced with pex piping
- hot water heater - works great
- shower - strong pressure works great
- new counter tops and sink covers
- interior lights all working
- two overhead ac’s both working
- ceiling fans in main cabin, shower and bathroom working
- gas heater requires a new fan motor however an electric Dyson
heater ive used for improved heating is included.
- queen size bed with tempur mattress in bedroom
- electric fold-down bed for two in the main cabin
- onboard Onan generator requires service however 2 Honda 2000 generators will be included if asking price is met. These may be daisy-chained providing additional power for AC, Heater and oven when not connected to shore power.
- 20lb lp tank works great
- carpet was replaced in 2016
- curtains were restored in 2016
- wood cabinetry resurfaced in 2016
- seats and fold down couch are original. The fabric shows wear, mainly on the couch. Foam is firm and comfortable.
Mechanical
454 Big Block Chevy motor and automatic transmission work great and run smooth, I replaced the TBI Carburetor with a 4 barrel Holley and new intake manifold which made performance far more reliable than the throttle body fuel injection, which had difficulty at different altitudes and air quality causing sensors to over or under choke and poor running. Now it goes any where, any altitude without difficulty.
I recently replaced the cooling system, with new radiator, water pump, fan clutch and thermostat.
I also recently replaced the rear in-tank fuel pump as well as the mid-ship fuel pump.
There are 6 new tires. Rubber is soft, there are no cracks and tread has most of its life remaining.
Brakes work great. There is a small fluid leak however making sure master cylinder is refilled ensures normal operation.
Power steering also has a small leak. As above, keeping the power steering fluid topped-up provides normal operation.
Exterior
Exterior is in very good shapes with all of its awnings working with the exception of the small passenger rear side awning. It requires repair however the components are provided.
There are minor dings and scratches. Solid roof, no leaks.
Plenty more info available - call with any questions.
