Title: 1984 Airstream 345 35 - Kentucky
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
This coach has an interesting history. Purchased by The Domestic Corporation, it was their showcase coach to demonstrate their products! The log book is part of its history. After running it's course as a showboat, an elderly couple in Northern Indiana purchased it and then I purchased it from them.
There have been several upgrade on the coach. The original heating system (still on it) is hydronic; yes, warm water with 3" radiators! This system needs, I believe, a little better engineering for it does not produce enough heat on cold days. It has a heat exchanger from the engine to warm water as well. Of course, the coach has a heater from the engine. I added a 35,000 BTU Suburban propane heater; that really heats up the coach!
Other upgrades include an electric water heater (110), a modern radio, a rear back up camera to replace the original, new upholstrey, new carpet, new seal around engine compartment, a new smart choice refrigerator (two-way), six new tires (did not replace tired on tag axle), replaced tax axle braking controls with NAPA motion control and stronger wheel magnets on tag wheels. A new carburetor with electronic automatic choke was installed along with a new air conditioning compressor on the engine with a fan in front of the radiator that is wired to come on when the air conditioner runs.
It is not without flaws. Hey, this is a 1984!! One of the coach air conditioners quit; I have not had the time to find out why. It is probably not serious. New exhaust and mufflers would be nice. There are some other things but not anything really big.
It has aircraft paint on it. It is an absolute beauty and you must see to appreciate!!
