Title: 1978 Airstream
Sovereign 31 - Florida
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
Meet Moon River the Airstream, a shiny little beauty that we put our hearts and souls into. She is a 1978 Airstream
Sovereign that is 31 feet long. When we purchased her (we are the third owners as far as we know), the second owner upgraded her cabinetry to a nice maple look. We added light-weight, white washed wood laminate flooring and painted all of the cabinets a cool-toned white. We spent three weeks removing all of the vinyl walls to reveal her gorgeous aluminum inner shell. We did, however, leave the bathroom original because the vinyl is in excellent condition and totally suits the 1970s hippie trippy vibe! The bathroom has a copper shower curtain rod and a step in shower/bathtub which is surprisingly pretty roomy. Because an actual door would make the place feel small, we opted for an industrial copper rod and Anthropologie curtain to separate the bathroom area. We added two little “closet” like divider walls with piping to have two racks to hang clothes. Inside one of the “closet areas,” we have a manually filled electric Panda spin washer and spin drier than drains into our grey tank. Moon River has a gorgeous custom cypress desk, complete under storage and keyboard/laptopdrawers. Where our white washed cabinetry and woodwork meets the floor, we have cypress wood toe-kicks. All of our kitchen countertops are copper with repurposed antique cypress molding as short backsplashes. Our vintage stove and oven is operational and is set in our copper countertop and has antique cypress siding with our heat coming out of decorative copper piping. We made the front end of the Airstream plenty large enough for a queen sized bed, but you can fit a king if you were to remove our extended night stand that covers the entire front cap. There are three separate places to slide storage under the bed as well, and hidden compartments at the very end of bed. We built the space for people who love to cook as well, complete with a custom-made antique maple butcher block with plenty of storage for large kitchen supplies underneath and a drawer for silverware. All of the beautiful curtains are custom made of gorgeous thick darkening fabric for people who like to sleep in. We have a manual blue awning, AC, electric/propane Norcold refrigerator and freezer, propane stove and oven, propane hot water heater. We hope someone who appreciates vintage Airstreams and values custom woodwork gets to keep her. We were limited to posting 10 images.
