1967 Airstream
Caravel started off in great original unaltered California Condition and was beautifully restored.
Unique features to the
Caravel years
1966 to
1968 are the curved corning frame less windows. This Caravel has a large open lounge type floor plan that is great for entertaining or hanging out. It is easily converted into two large sleeping areas with lots of upper & lower storage space including two wardrobe closets. It has a convertible hide away dinette table that almost disappears when not in use.
It has been meticulously restored back to original like new condition. Rebuilding most of its original systems and updating as needed. Starting with new tires, coated rims, new hubcaps, beauty rings, bearing and electric brake service. New battery, Updated
12v and 120v electrical with 45 amp power converter, usb ports, accessory ports, combination Lp gas & Carbon Monoxide detectors, and
12 volt battery meter.
The propane system has been completely serviced from bow to stern and a newer Suburban thermostatically controlled propane heater was installed as well as a electronic ignition 6g propane water heater. All plumbing faucets, valve stems, drains have been rebuilt, and all original! This Caravel is equipped with a large fresh water holding tank along with a sure flow on demand water pump.
New Dometic 2way electric and propane refrigerator/freezer, just installed. The A/C unit heats or cools when plugged in to shore power. All light fixtures are original and have been restored and polished. The original Magic Chef stove/oven was also just restored with chrome parts re-chromed. (It looks amazing!)
There is a custom made Bamboo cutting block that covers the original sink when more counter space is needed. Original counter and tabletop surfaces.
All window glass and weather seals were replaced with corning tempered ultra-clear glass. Mechanical window hardware was rebuilt, replaced and polished. (They are very smooth!) Window catches were replaced with new stainless steel parts. (No more rust, and are very smooth.)
All new upholstery cushions and double sided pinch pleated curtains. The interior cabinets and wood walls were completely refinished using custom mixed wood stain to match its original light blond shade and sealed with 4 coats of eco friendly semi-gloss polyurethane to create a very durable gloss finish. All cabinet latches and hinges were reconditioned and polished to original shine.
The sub floor and trailer frame was found to be in excellent condition. New Millstead vintage maple 3/8" hardwood floors were installed.
All exterior running lights were rebuilt or replaced.
The Caravel was professionally polished on (01/2017). It's always the center of attention and it is small enough to fit in a driveway and allowed in National or State park campgrounds.
The black vintage CA plate do not come with the camper. Custom vintage accessories are an option. (Vintage radio, hangers, wall mount barometer thermometer.)
There many upgrades not mentioned.
These small trailers are increasingly being bought and shipped overseas making it evermore hard to find them. This is a true American Icon.
