Title:
1962 Airstream Globetrotter - New Jersey
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
Two owner Airstream. I purchased this Globetrotter from the original owner in 2010. Many consider
1962, the year Wally died, the best year for Airstream as quality suffered after Wally's death.
NEW in the last 2-3 years: Axle, shocks, brakes, tires, hubcaps, powdercoated and pinstriped original wheels (including spare), LP regulator and supply hoses, Converter (Intellivolt with charge wizard) and battery, Manual jack, Umbilical cord, Skylight (Astrodome replaced with high quality skylight), All exterior running lights replaced, Upholstery, curtains, carpet.
Water system, holding tank, water pump (Shurflow) and water heater function properly. Newer Dometic refrigertor runs great on electtric or gas. Air conditioning runs strong and cold. Original oven replaced with stove top and microwave oven. All windows and screens function properly. Tinted windows look great and provide privacy. Awning works well and is in great shape.
Original furnace removed. Propane catalytic heater installed, but I've never tried it I give the body a 9 out of 10. All panels are very straight. There are two repairs completed by prior owner - small aluminum pieces affixed over original panels. I considered polishing at one point, but decided I like the original oxidized aluminum. Interior has been painted and could use a refresh.
This is a fun unit ready to tow and use as is, or if polishing and restoration is your thing, this would be a great candidate. Easy to tow and pefect size for traveling. The Globetrotter offers a nice layout and a great shower too - not a wet bath like smaller models.
