This beautiful vintage
1959 Ambassador has been given a new lease on life with a full renovation from the ground up. It features a new and modern interior with an updated layout. The original mid-twin/back bathroom layout was changed to a full size bed in the rear with extra storage and a mid-trailer bath area with a large shower on the curb side and an enclosed toilet/lavatory area on the street side. The kitchen area features a large pantry/closet plus hidden drawers in the area behind the sliding doors in the lower cabinet area. The living area includes a black leather couch which opens for extra sleeping space. The trailer was recently appraised by a certified appraisal company for $72,500.00. It is currently insured for this amount.
During the renovation the frame was strengthened with new cross members and was sanded, primed, and painted. New #10 Torflex axles were installed. New 2024T3 aluminum panels were installed on both street and curb side. New ¾ inch plywood floor was installed. Inside aluminum skin was replaced with the exception of the end caps. Insulation is polystyrene (2 layers) and Prodex (up to 3 layers). The walls and cabinets were constructed with ½” Chinese Birch which was sealed with clear Polyurethane. The trailer was completely rewired and was fitted with pex plumbing. The trailer is wired for both cable and air TV reception and includes a new Jack antenna.
The bathroom includes a new Mark V toilet. New ABS holding tanks were installed including a 30 gallon black water, 20 gallon grey water, and 17 gallon fresh water tanks. New stainless steel kitchen and bath sinks were installed along with top of the line faucets. The flooring, Yasmine by Beauflor, was ordered from Airstream and is the same flooring used by Airstream in the Eddie Bauer trailers. The cabinet top laminate is Oiled Soapstone by WilsonArt. The folding doors used to separate the bath areas were purchased from Airstream. All interior lighting is LED.
New appliances and equipment include: 15,000 BTU Penguin A/C; Suburban NT-30SP Furnace; Atwood 2 burner drop-in cooktop; Dometic Convection Microwave with trim kit; Dometic 7.0 cu.ft. New Generation 2 way Refrigerator with stainless steel panels; Shurflo water pump; Atwood Electronic Direct Spark 6 gal. water heater; Inteli-power 45 amp Converter/Charger with built in charge wizard; 2 Fan-Tastic Vent fans (front & rear).
The trailer has 2 new Worthington 30 lb. aluminum propane bottles. The trailer was fitted with a modern 2 5/16 inch coupler and a 3500 lb. electric jack was installed. The spare tire (with cover) is mounted behind the propane tanks. New Good Year Marathon 15 inch tires are mounted on Airstream Alcoa rims.
