(SALE PENDING) We are selling our completely restored, rare and beautiful
1958 Airstream "18 footer." Also known as an Airstream Traveler. Perfect for camping adventures, a food cart or your backyard guest cottage.This beautiful little trailer has all of its original charm with solid wood cabinetry and period light fixtures, but everything below the surface is NEW making it a true collectors piece but also allowing it to function safely and efficiently like a newer Airstream.
It has been fully restored/upgraded - a combined effort on the part of ourselves and the previous owners - and all the work has been catalogued. All repairs and modernizations have been made with the integrity of the original aesthetic and character in mind. This Airstream is exceptional both in its rarity (relatively few of these were made) and its versatility (the length makes it comfortable as a travel home or a guest quarters but also easy to tow or place in a relatively small yard).
The Layout: Dinette up front can be converted into a double bed. Streetside galley with icebox and new "service" window. Curbside galley with sink, microwave spot, upper and lower cabinets/drawers, and a wardrobe on each side. Additional drawer storage on street side and an added single bed along the back.
All systems are fully functional, very clean and dry so this trailer is ready for adventure. "Light on the hitch. Light on the hills and comfortable inside!"
Restoration Details: The trailer has had extensive repairs inside and out. Below is a complete list of repairs. Photos of the restoration are also available.
Outside:
Upgraded to an off-the-shelf torsion bar 2,500 lb axel with acculube bearings and new electric breaks, and original 15" wheels.
Moved the spare tire, hinged to the back for more ample storage
All external lighting upgraded to low power LED's for efficiency
Extra period window added as service station. (window pane easily removed and custom copper counter piece can be used on outside)
Added 15 gallon grey water system with dump valve and discharge
Refurbished clear view windows
Aluminum exterior polished to mirror finish
Inside:
Replaced original floor boards with weather proofed ply
New vinyl closed cell foam flooring
New upholstery and cushions
New electrical station underneath settee includes;
-110 V inverter
-automatic battery charging
-12 V service for all lighting
-All fuse panels, inverter and all 110 V service breakers
Replaced oven with spot for a microwave (not included)
Refurbished 110 V and original gas lamps
Converted all to 12 V LED lighting
Custom Copper counter tops
New electric pressure driven water faucet
New cutting boards
Replaced original fridge with ice box to eliminate power requirements
