AS of 2012 it was only on the Eddie Bauer edition. Don't know why - except it's supposed to be a deep woods model.

It could be a part number sticker or other temporary label used in the factory, and they forgot to take it off.
What is printed on it?

It's an early prototype electronic tag, so you can tell which Airstream is your in a large group, such as a rally.

Heat sink for those using nonST tires and going over 65 mph and creating too much friction. Keeps the aluminum shell from melting.

All the stickers were removed from mine....except VIN and certification label. There have been reports of the adhesive attacking the clear coat over time...especially the Thor sticker by the door.

I have the same sticker on at least the front of my 2014 EB. Always wondered what it was for as well. Seems like not much more than reflective tape.

Would have been nice if the factory had bothered to put the word "AIRSTREAM" on the back of our 23D let alone any other sticker back there.

Both of our EBs 13 & 15 had them but not on our 20FC; yes, it is reflective ... but then, so is the entire AS...LOL

Maybe that is the alignment sticker to help them install the word "AIRSTREAM" on the back of the trailer. Since they forgot to put that word on our 23D, we did not also have the other sticker. 
An old Westinghouse ad claimed that "the quality went in before the name went on". So the name did not go on........
and we had QC issues.

My best guess, finding that EB from the others on the assembly line.
Or, the EB being a prototype beta tester for 16" wheels, see level tank monitors, and such, a reflector above where the red numbers go.
For "special" identification from the "black" helicopters?
I did check, reflective.
