men's store Joseph A Banks purchases Eddie Baur

Jos A Banks bought the eddie baur brand for 825mil.

Do you think this will change the relationship with airstream. Could they simply make the trailer under a different name if so?

I doubt that the potential acquisition of Eddie Bauer by Jos. a Banks would have any impact on the licensing deal with Airstream to produce the Eddie Bauer models. In any event, I've been told by Colonial in NJ that AS is planning on discontinuing the Eddie Bauer model anyway very shortly (although I still see it listed on the company website.) AS has a history of producing limited runs on certain models for whatever reason. However, even if AS discontinued the Eddie Bauer model per se, they could build a trailer with many of the same features such as the opening rear hatch, for example. That rear hatch is basically the same as what AS used on the Panamera model.

For what it's worth - Eddie Bauer clothing is much better than Jos A Bank clothing (I have and use both). I'm going to have to stock up in current Eddie Bauer stuff now.

As for the trailer, I thought they were discontinuing it a while ago. I guess this would only speed that process...

I love the idea of the EB and it seems to be a popular model. Not sure why they would discontinue

Dunno about the trailers but I am afraid the clothes will go to crap, and EB was on few places that still carries things that I can and will wear.

Well if they rename the EB to Banks I might have to get one since it is my last name and will be time for upgrade.

Banks is famous for two for one. Does that mean we can expect to see buy one Airstream and get one free?

Or buy 1 get 3 free on a random Tuesday when I can't go because I have to work...
Y'all remember when Ford had Eddie Bauer versions of their trucks and SUV's? You could identify them at a distance by the 2 tone paint with tan on the bottom and usually green, maroon, or white on the top and tan interiors.

My wife works at EB Corporate. No changes and they just renewed the licensing agreement with Airstream for another year.

Having been through one too many acquisitions, when they say there will be no changes you can be sure that there will be some MAJOR changes. The "no changes" statement is thrown out to try and calm down and re-assure people who may get nervous.

Of course there will be changes, the question is how severe, and my experience tells me that they are most severe when promises are made that there will be none.

Great news. One dealer I talked to said they had canceled the contract with EB do to this acquisition and pressured me to buy now saying EBs would be all gone and sky rocket in price, only a few more being made ever bla bla..

I don't respond well to that kind of tactic and told him I would be in touch. I specifically talked to many other dealers about the same issue and they assured me I could order one and they don't expect EBs to be discontinued. They stated while not a huge seller it fills a important nitch and drives people to their lots that may end up with another model- so it's impact is bigger than sales alone.

I want the EB 25 but I at least want to hear what changes/new models there might be when they announce 2015 s around may. Good to know 2015s EBS will still be around

Yep.
I live in Greenwood, MS, former home of Viking Range before it was sold to Middleby Corporation.
No changes meant 400 locals being laid off and the customer service center and dishwasher plant closing.
No changes...

Eddie Bauer NOT being acquired by Jos. A Banks

I'm not sure why this is still a concern? As part of the deal for Men's Wearhouse to acquire Jos. A. Banks, the potential acquisition of Eddie Bauer by Jos. A Banks was cancelled. It would appear that the much ballyhooed acquisition of Eddie Bauer was a ploy by Jos. A Banks to get a better deal from Men's Wearhouse, no more.
