Actual Length

The spec's on the EB 25 show a length of 25 ft 11 inches. Does that include the tongue and number? I am planning for storage now. I should know this…thanks for the help.

Yes, that figure includes the tongue and bumper. Plan on a couple of extra inches, just in case, though.

Don't forget the height and width as they exceed most garage door dimensions.

Of course mine has "mysteriously" shrunk a foot when checking into a certain state park that has huge sites but a totally arbitrary 30' length limit...

Side question to this. A RV park we want to stay at some day has a MINIMUM length of 25ft. Its a luxury place, that on one of the reviews someone said the office came out with a tape measure- said they were a inch under 25 and kicked them out even with a 6 month reservation.

I am sure something else contributed to them getting kicked out and i dont know what kind of trailer they had but just wondering in these circumstances what would be considered 25? The actual shell? Just up to the manager? tonge to number?

Based upon the Airstream model numbering system, the only models that for sure have a 25' or longer shell are the 31' models. The 27FB Flying Cloud and International models are 28' in the literature while the 28' Flying Cloud and Internationals models are 27' 11". The 27FB Classic is 27' 9.5" in overall literature length.

Airstream supposedly measures from the front of the hitch to the back of the bumper.

We, too, have a Classic 30. Even though it is actually 31' long, I always use 30' when checking in to campgrounds or making reservations.
Our former sob trailer was a 28. I don't know the actual length.
I guess I like even numbers...

Interesting odd off topic fact:
My previous trailer, a 2009 Forest River Wildwood 28RLSS, was actually 32' actual length- go figure-
My Airstream, 2' longer by model number designation, is 1' shorter.
Who knew?

I wouldn't worry much about length keeping you out of "luxury" RV resorts. We use them often and when saying you have an Airstream that usually ends the question. They have rules to keep the trash out, length, age, condition, but in recent years they are well below capacity and that's getting less stringent.

If they came out with a tape measure to check a 25, most probably something else didn't look good to them.

Yea, Airstream quotes lengths ball to bumper, while some other manufacturers use the length of the box. So, if trying to get into a park with length limits, use the box length. I doubt they'll take the time to measure.

Most parks with the "10 years old" rule have Airstreams from the 60's and 70's...

We haven't picked up our 25FB yet, and we're pricing the local storage facilities as well. Some places gave us a quote of "up to 25 ft" and 25.1 ft to 28ft, and on, and on. The brochure states 25ft 11 inches; but that's not the body length, it's a measurement from back bumper to the (end of?) the front hitch coupler? Is that correct and is that a common measurement used: bumper to coupler for most TT manufacturers?

You cannot universalize companies on their measures of length. As crazy at that may sound. Airstreams are measured from bumper to hitch end. Your unit is a 25' 11" trailer. My storage facility says my paid spot is for up to 30' but my actual measurement of the spot is 27' from wall to painted barrier. They say I am paying for a 30' spot but it is actually 27'. I would go to the facility and measure a spot like they are pricing for you and see if it will fit based on 25' 11" with a bit of clearance for the rear. I say if you can fit in the spot then go for it at the better price point.

And do watch out for spots that have an angled layout.

My 23 foot (ball to bumper length) AS barely fits in the "35 foot" space I am renting, because the rear boundary is at an angle to the stall. Fortunately the rig behind me is considerably shorter, and the owner left me quite a bit of space between his bumper and mine.

On my front streetside corner, there is a fire Hydrant and a bunch of steel pipe bollards to protect it, so this is not a bad spot. You would have to shear off the hydrant to get to my aluminum...

So another question to go along with this is;
Since the hitch and bumper are included in AS length, is there a dimension you can deduct to get to your actual cabin length?

Pretty much no. The numbers Airstream uses to refer to the trailers are just names, not always the actual lengths.

Yes. There are no standards as to trailer length. I suspect that Airstream has been making a "25'" trailer for a long time and the actual length changes with different eras, but they want to have that 25' number consistently out there. If I recall correctly the 27' and the 28' are also pretty far off and the is the 28' shorter than the 27'? Anyway, designs change and thus do lengths, but the names remain the same. My 27' Nash is actually 27' 3", so lengths are not only nonstandard, but rounded.
