We have been traveling all day and just heard about this tragedy. What a shameful and pointless act. Hearing of this has greatly saddened us.

Sad indeed. I dont care this happeded in the gay community..... we are all each others human family. We need to eradicate hate but how do we do this without hating?

I won't pretend to have an answer. But I'll share a few things I was honored to hear from Matthew Shepard's mom Judy who did a lunch time seminar we broadcast through our company just last week. Some very simple and profound messages including:

"It's easy to hate in the abstract. Get to know individuals who are different than you. It's hard to hate people you actually know. Telling our stories is how we change the world."

"No one's asking for special rights - just equal rights."

"Be kind to one another."

May it be.

Yes, it's best to treat everyone as an individual but, when that persons beliefs preach hatred for you and others it's hard to be objective.
