Y'know Brad, megster has a good question. What's the date this year? I want to get it on David F's schedule early. No graduations in 2015 so we might actually make it.

So far Arkansas works best for everyone that's been attending. It's more of a Midwest/Southern FOD rally. I'd help anyone that wanted to have one on the East Coast or the West Coast. It's normally in Hot Springs AR but we haven't set it up yet. We have had people from CA, IL, OH make the journey. It's a fun rally! We hope you can make it.

Early June works best for us. Hopefully, this will be the "shake down" trip for our '62 Around-the-World" Overlander restoration. Hey Brad, we've put 17,000 miles this year on "Zorro"!!

Well then I guess we may be able to afford it with the high mileage! We hope to see you next year! Around the world Overlander would be a hit! We miss you boys and your toys.

The Arkansas FOD Rally is a great event.
In the past, we've kicked around the idea of coordinating and hosting a late summer FOD rally in Texas but has never generated much interest on here. If there would be enough interest we would consider coordinating and hosting an event in the mountains of west Texas which would possibly pull in more FODs from the west coast. It would be in late summer (Sept. - Oct. timeframe) if there was enough interest.

Hello from a new "looker"
I have long been a lover of vintage Airstreams. While I'm not yet a lucky owner, my husband bought me two books for Christmas. I am excited, as this was my green light to begin peeking!!! The books are "Restoring a Dream" and "Airstream Custom Interiors".
I have been perusing the boards and using detailed searches, looking for a price point on a remodel. While I adore the vintage exterior, I would like a completely remodeled interior, lighter and brighter with a rear bedroom/middle bath. I also need it to sleep at least four, more would be a bonus. Understanding there is a vast amount of work to be done that is outside my scope of expertise, I will have to hire out for the remodel.
My initial questions are- 1. What is the average cost of a remodel with good quality materials (nice cabinetry, solid surface counters, wood floors, etc) for a larger 26+ Airstream? 2. Might there be significant savings to sub out the work by type (hire separate electrician, plumber, carpenter)?
Thanks so much for your time!
Nicole

Two Dutch guys
Hi there!
I just found this great thread today and I have been spending way too much time reading all the introductions. So much fun to read about you all! We are two Dutch guys living in Utrecht, the Netherlands and visiting the USA whenever we can. Which is about three times a year. I am Koos and my partner of 17 years is Stefan. Below is a picture of us.
We own a 1983 34' Limited with curbside dinette, curbside bath and a rear queen size (yeah, right?) bed. We tow it with a 2010 Buick Enclave. We had the hitch done by Andy Thomson of CanAm RV in London, Ontario. He is the best. We are very happy with this combination. I enclose a picture of our rig as well.
Right now, we store the rig in Las Vegas, NV. So far, we have camped in Nevada, Utah, Arizona and California. We just returned last week from a winter trip to Arizona (seeing friends in Tucson, doing some work on the trailer and camping in Lost Dutchman State Park near Phoenix).
Our next trip will be in April, seeing Death Valley and attending a wedding in the Bay Area in California. The one after that will probably be in September, we haven't set the travel goal for that one yet. On our wish list are the Arches in Moab, Canyonlands and maybe a little bit into Colorado. Further down the line, we also want to go to the Northwest (I absolutely love Oregon and Washington) and then there is still the South and the East to explore. So we are not done yet... :-)
We are considering changing our storage location to Salt Lake City. The reason is that it is close to many gorgeous locations and it has direct flights from Amsterdam. It is not easy to find an affordable storage facility for a rig our size (the combination is 51'). We would like it to be under cover, it does not have to be fully enclosed. If it is enclosed (=dark), we would need electricity to keep the batteries charged. In Las Vegas, we are paying $186 per month for a 60' space under a canopy. There is no electricity, but we have solar panels to trickle charge the batteries while we are away. So if anybody has any suggestions, we would love to hear them.
Here are the pictures:

Welcome! That is a big trailer, makes our Bambi look like a guest room Not much help on the storage in Salt Lake since we live in very flat Kansas but I'm sure you can find something. Keep us posted on your journeys.

Hey Guys....
Welcome! We met you at Lost Dutchman when you were there after Christmas (remember?)...we were with the other Airstreams you saw there, but had to leave for the 4CU New Year's Rally soon after you arrived, so we didn't have much chance to visit ... wish we had! Maybe we'll see you down he road again in this neck o' the woods...your rig is unmistakable!

Hi Megster-
We are two fun gals from SC. Bought a 27 Int Serenity the day before yesterday. Absolutely cannot
believe that we did this! One of us is beyond excited and the other is still in shock. Delivery is beginning of May. Would love to learn more about the rallys ( what is the plural of rally anyway, nothing looks correct!) and just make some nice friends along the way. Hope to see you out there.

Welcome to the world of Airstream! The best move we ever made to invest in our relaxation time. Our friends now refer to us as 'those kinds of people', and we love it! You will find out how jealous some of your friends can be, but be happy your on the brighter side of it!
