Winter in Oregon job

OREGON

WINTER CARETAKER needed at a RV Park in a remote part of Oregon. A husband and wife team is needed for several months this fall and winter in exchange for a full service RV site. Our 25 site for RVs plus three cabins does not have guests in the winter and the owners need someone to attend to a very small amount of caretaking. We are looking for friendly, courteous couple with their own well maintained RV. A background check and references will be required. Please inquire at remoteoutpost@hughes.net

Ohh?! There actually is a town named Remote, OR. Is that the location?

Yep, Oregon is a BIG place. pappy19, to draw some interest I'd think a casual reader might have more inclination to consider this if they had some basic info -- general location, elevation & expected winter conditions -- the latter two to help factor in what cold conditions they might face.

From the email address, I'm guessing it's the Remote Outpost RV Park & Cabins about 35 miles SSE of Coos Bay. There are some other towns closer that I've never heard of except for Bandon on the coast, and I've only heard of that because there's a golf development there that caters to the private-jet crowd and was written up in a book about how developers cheat towns out of tax money for resorts, Cabela's stores and such.

We know that area, on Route 42, not my choice to spend the winter unless one is a big fan of mold, mildew and dry rot.

These ads come from the Caretaker Gazette and I only post the RV ads here for those that might be interested. I have no affiliation or partnership with any of the ads I post here. I guess unless the ad is for a location in the south west, I should post it in the Good Sam site or not at all.

I didn't mean to judge one way or another when I was describing the relative remoteness and unfamiliarity of the campground in question. After all, I grew up in a town no one more than 80 miles away ever heard of, between another town no one ever heard of and one most people had heard of, but they'd heard of the one with the same name in New York, not Texas. I just meant to locate it in the world, and describe its relative remoteness. I'm sure lots of people are looking for just that, though many of them are the boondockers on this site who would turn up their noses at the idea of a remote campsite that had *horrors* full hookups!

It was my understanding that this thread was for those AS'ers that were looking for work at RV parks, not just camping out. So unless you are looking for work at RV parks then MYOB, ya think?

Same with my post, I meant not to demean the park or the area, but only meant (since I am a NW native who has spent many winters up there), that a prospective caretaker would do some research as to the winter conditions. 'Nuff said.

Sounds like a nice opportunity for for a couple able to do it. We have had 4 work camping experiences so far, working at a resort, a warehouse, and volunteering at an animal refuge. This sounds like a nice gig for anyone not needing additional income and wanting to winter in Oregon. Thanks for posting it.

Gee, That's strange. I've heard of every little burg on the map around there. That's my heritage. My grandfather farmed, owned a hotel, and was a lighthouse keeper in that part of Oregon. I spent a bunch of time in the summer around there when I was a kid.

Now, with all of that said, I sure don't want to spend a winter there. That's why I'm in Colorado. The sun is shining right now.

Why we're in Arizona, too. Had too much of this up north until April . Click on "rainwear", that's what we used to put on in the mornings and wear to bed.helleyhansen.com

We lucked out with a popular radio station starting out here in town. I am a wall dog (mural artist)...so we did some wall work for them...and I had expressed my dis-like for trailer parks- so they moved us out here under their tower (interesting place during lightning storms) but we are out in the country and the sunsets are spectacular. Work Camping is great and I had looked into that back when we were unable to pull or travel. Say Pappi- can you post ads in there for yourself and what you do also?

Thanks Sean, Lucille and I had a blast at the Johnson City Rally, especially meeting all of the great Texicans and seeing new country. I can't post any copies of The Caretake Gazette as they threatened me with a copyright law suit for posting here. I thought I was helping them out but not so. The wife and I work on utility projects across the country obtaining easements and permits for client companies. Jobs usually last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. We are currently working on the Eagle-Ford Shale in south Texas. We still maintain our home in Garden Valley, Idaho but for the time being, home is our '02 AS 30' Classic with SO.
